This hotel claims to be a 5 star establishment. I have stayed in a number of 5 star hotels and this one is far from the standard that others meet. If you look at the requirements for a 5 star rating there are a number of things that should apply:-nnAccessibility - In order to get to our room we had to take a lift and then walk down stairs to the landing where our room was located, carrying our suitcases. You normally walk out of the lift onto the landing where your room is.nnSpacious - the room we had was tiny. We barely had any room to put suitcases in and was not the 25sqm room we booked. The only mirror my wife could use when drying her hair with the hair dryer was at the back of the wardrobe, which was also tiny and partially filled with 2 x bath robes and what few clothes we could hang up.nnSound proofing- the room we were in faced a side street. The windows were not double glazed, so not only did we get the constant 24hr noise of the traffic, we also have the noise from the music venue across the road. I am writing this at midnight and the music is still blaring out. When I queried this with reception on our 1st night's stay here, their suggestion was to offer me ear plugs! This is supposed to be a 5 star hotel and should have adequate sound proofing not ear plugs!!! When I asked to be moved to another room, I was instantly informed that the hotel was full - this seems to have been the same response to a number of reviews where a request to move was made.nnMost 5 star hotels I have been to offer a buffet breakfast, but here you can only select from a set menu. The tables are small and are barely big enough for 2 x plates.nnOverall I was extremely disappointed with this hotel and do not consider it to be worthy of the 5 star rating it claims to have. All in all this stay tarnished what has been a fantastic holiday in New Zealand so far. This hotel was booked for us by a travel agent and I will be suggesting to them on my return to avoid using it in future.
Room we had was small in old part, but comfy and very clean. Good heat/AC. Nice location—a few blocks from busy octogon area and university. Staff was very mixed. Some friendly, others less so. Food ok but pricey for what you get, particularly breakfast. Front desk often vacant. Common areas not well serviced…had to go up to bar for drinks after sitting nearby for a number of minutes. Would not return.
I don’t know … but I can’t recommend this hotel … we booked via booking.com 3 rooms and wiener arrived found out there were only two rooms on day one of the stay …Much later 4hrs.. the hotel found an issue in the booking.com Plattform … but they were so unfriendly .. the duty manager so he called himself tried to blame us for a long time - despite us showing him the booking app which was very clear 3 rooms 2 nights .. he was unfriendly maybe part had to do with his French accent/ vocabulary in a way that was completely unhelpful … no customer service just blaming us… at the end we recommended a role on bed as the hotel was full for the first night .. we are still dis using as he wants us to pay for 2 nights 3 rooms but we only got 1 night with 2 and one night with 3 rooms. Als what was called a superior room has the following view below … a triangle of walls ??? So if Lu can do t go there .. unfriendly and not worth the money !!nnTo add the latest … they forgot to clean one room but can’t do it now as the staff has gone home !!!nnAt the end though they offered one room for one night for free so they did make good . So the result is good the way to get there very painful
We had a wonderful stay at the Fable, great location and stunning clean room. Chloe really made the whole experience that much better. Her customer service was exceptional and went that extra mile to make our special day that much more amazing. We will be back again knowing that she is there!
Staff at check-in: „Both rooms are the same“ n209 looks like a junior suite. 316 looks like a room in your cellar. There are no windows, I would rather call them loopholes. You can’t look through them and you can’t open them. The air in the room was really not good. It‘s a tiny rooom, there is not really space for one suitcase and never for two. The bath is small, there is no space between you an the toilet paper holder. What a design flaw! The only positive thing one can say about the hotel is the high-quality room furnishings. But all in all, not everything that glitters is gold.nnBreakfest is no buffet, you have to order a menu. Take the omlet or leave breakfest hungry… my pancakes were burned… mhh yummy…. staff at breakfest is confused. The side dishes were random placed on the menu of an other person in our group not on an extra plate.nI really don‘t know how this hotel got a 5-star ranking i give them 3.nnGood to know for car travelers: no exclusive parking area for hotel guests, you have to get a public one. At the weekend you can park in the street next to the hotel for free, but you habe to leave before 9 am on monday.
