The hotel was likely built in the 70s or 80s, and it still looks very dated on the exterior and interior. However, the rooms and bathrooms have been done up a bit to modernise it. The lifts are old and small.nnThe reception staff were friendly and helpful. The room was spacious, but due to the concrete panelled ceiling, it appeared that it may be too difficult to install modern down lights. Therefore, stand-alone lights and lamps have been used instead. Also, there was only one double power plug behind the bed, but in the middle of wall, which made it difficult to reach to plug my mobile into for charging and to use my alarm.nnThe bathroom was tiled with a shower over the bath and the old style shower curtain. It was clean and tidy, but the fan ventilation didn't work very well. Also, the old style shower head didn't allow for good water pressure.nnThe hotel made it very tricky to find the hair dryer, which was tucked right at the back of a shelf in a not so obvious location, and the hairdryer power was very weak.nnI had breakfast there one morning for an extra $30. It was a reasonable buffet style breakfast with the standard selection of hot and cold foods.nnThe location of the hotel is right on top of a hill, not too far from the Octagon and the city, however it would be very hard to walk to as the hill is very steep and the drive-on access is narrow. The view from my room was not very pleasant, as I looked out onto a parking lot and some power/electrical machinery construction site. I would say that with this hotel price being low to average, you get what you pay for.
Absolutely beautiful friendly staff so helpful!!nThe best beds so comfy, rooms are nice and cosy all you need for a one night stay.nAnd they make a beautiful Latte!!nThank you so much for having us we'll definitely be back!!
The reception dude he was very welcoming easy to talk to. The room I'm not sure what was sprayed on the timber on the ceiling looks like asbestos who knows. The Jug looks like it was from the 90s the lighting well was just lamps. The noise early in the morning was a bit excessive. The sliding door separating the 2 rooms wow. It's dated I wouldn't recommend it. Parking fee would be a good idea to have that listed. So it's not a suprise. Can't say I would return anytime soon.
This is has been our favourite place to stay in Dunedin for a while now. Beds are so comfy and the junior suites are so roomy! Breakfast is delicious and included in the room rate. Special mention must be made of the fabulous young man at reception who goes above and beyond to make you feel welcome and provide great service!!
Really good location and super staff. The hotel itself is dated; not much has been done to it for some time. Sound proffing does not exist an dit can get pretty noisy. The breakfast was very good
