We stayed at the newly renovated Voco hotel in Queenstown and were genuinely impressed, five stars, well deserved.nnFirst off, the location is excellent, and it was a lovely surprise to find the hotel recently renovated. The rooms are fresh and nicely updated, and the breakfast selection was good too.nnBut what really stood out was the customer service. We unfortunately didn’t catch any names, but the ground floor staff, the team helping around the lobby and common areas, not just reception, were exceptional. We never had to wait in a queue, and every interaction was friendly, warm, and genuinely helpful. Small touches made a big difference, like staff offering to carry our skis to the dry room without us even having to ask. It’s rare to experience this level of service consistently, and it’s something management should really recognise and be proud of. Any questions we had at reception were also handled quickly and without any issues.nnOur kids loved the gym and sauna too, a great touch for families.nnThe one area with room for improvement is room cleanliness. I won’t go into detail here, but I’d be happy to share specifics directly with the hotel if useful. I mention this not just for guest experience, but because keeping on top of it will also help protect the rooms from unnecessary wear and tear over time.nnOverall, we had an amazing stay and would highly recommend, this hotel is clearly doing a lot right, and I hope this feedback helps them keep improving.
Decent stay. Rooms were a little quirky, but it looked like they were doing some remodels so maybe they are improving things. The rooms were not very big and we had a room with zero view. Can’t really complain because we’re really only there to sleep. For some reason they had an unmovable curtain around the glass shower next to the bed. No door to the bathroom, which was weird. Oh well. They do offer parking at NZ$25 per night.
I stayed here for 5 days and 4 nights and really enjoyed our stay! The staff were all very friendly and welcoming. Breakfast was tasty with a good variety. The room was clean and comfortable. The location is also great—it's only about a 5–10 minute walk to the city center, so it's easy to get around on foot.nnThey also have free tap water refill available, so it’s a good idea to bring a water bottle with you. Just a heads up, there are no complimentary bottled waters in the room.nnWe had a great experience overall and would definitely stay here again!
Great artwork of a cave woman’s undies in the lobby. Great, funny, and supportive staff. Strategic location, especially if you use buses to get to ski resorts.nnThe hotel is well maintained. Very sub-par breakfast. The hotel’s management didn’t even bother installing a coffee machine. You’re limited to their batch brewed coffee which tastes alright. Food is very limited and just meh. If your diet or religious beliefs prevent you from eating pork, you’re doomed because no alternative proteins are available.nnThere’s a lovely sauna and a little gym, but they only have cardio machines and not even a proper bench for upper body workouts.nnThe hotel charges $25 per night for their car park.nnRooms are rather small. I was able to open my luggage but if I travelled with a companion, there’s absolutely no way we’d both be able to open our bags in the room.nnHad issues with the cleaning team several times during my stay. The issues were resolved but it was odd to experience this in what used to be a great and effortless property.
TL;DR: 11/10. I would recommend this hotel based on the service alone. Just book it.nnThis was an incredibly special trip for me and my family, and we spent more than two weeks at the hotel so we could take our time and properly enjoy the town.nnThe staff consistently went above and beyond to make our stay even more memorable. Our daughter now has two honorary aunties in Jessy and Mia at reception, who always greeted us with a warm welcome.nnOlivia is your go to for chocolates and recommendations on where to find the best Thai. Although Thai himself at reception would have to be up there, and can help you with anything you need during your stay and offers plenty of laughs.nnA special mention must go to Jazmin. Your coffee skills and all round service are genuinely top tier. Rose, James and Shayal cool name, use it also deserve recognition. It is clear that the three of you are foundational members of the team and play a huge role in creating such a welcoming atmosphere that functions at a high level.nnThe recent changes to the hotel have taken it to another level, and the little reading corner has brought my passion for reading back Ara from the bookshelf is a wild read.nnFrom the conversations I had with the staff, I am confident that the friendly, personal service will remain at the heart of the experience and I'm looking forward to booking dates for a summer stay next year.nnThank you to everyone for helping make such an important family trip so memorable.
