Nice location, convenient to walk to most attractions in Queenstown, which is important as parking is a big issue there.nParking was not good experience, NZD 25 per day can not be waived, and you have to enroll and make payment online in advance before parking. Sometime it's really hard to find a parking spot as this is a quite small garage compared to the hotel scale.nFree breakfast was awful, very limited options, quality and taste below expectations, etc.nRoom was nice, we were upgraded to a suite, very comfortable, nice mountain view, convenient small kitchen, well-designed bathroom. But the bathroom has no ventilation fan, which seems surprising.
Staff - absolutely amazing. Very pleasant and accommodating. Shoutout to Rosie and Jasmin and housekeeping!nRoom/Bed - clean and comfortable, with fresh sheets that made the stay great.nToilet - clean and stocked with enough amenities. It would be great if slippers could be provided for added convenience.nBreakfast - simple yet delicious. The coffee was excellent, just as expected.nLocation - perfectly situated near shops and wharf, only 5-7minute walk. However, coming from the city can take a bit longer since it's uphill, but still very manageable.nnOverall, had a fabulous stay! I always enjoy staying at HIE and this location is no exception.
Title: Not Worth the Money – Poor Service & No AccountabilitynnWe paid premium rates to stay at Holiday Inn Express & Suites Queenstown and were extremely disappointed.nnA 3+1 night booking in the same room category resulted in a forced checkout mid‑stay, luggage storage, and a long wait to re‑check in. This could have been handled internally but wasn’t.nnStaff behaviour especially Abi at reception was rude and dismissive. No effort was made to help or even explain properly.nnHaving travelled extensively and stayed at many Holiday Inn properties worldwide, this was easily one of the worst experiences.nnThe “King Bed” provided is two separate mattresses pushed together, as shown in the photo. This is not a true king-size bed and was uncomfortable for a couple stay. This was not clearly disclosed at the time of booking and adds to the overall dissatisfaction with the room quality.nAttaching photo of same.nnThere are far better hotels in Queenstown for this price. I would not recommend this property.
Excellent central location, a short walk to the pier and shops. Bus, tour, excursion pickup just at the corner.nStaff was so professional and courteous.nExpansive wide open ‘great room’ common area with fireplaces and nice Mountain Views.nFacility and rooms were very clean and up to date. Free breakfast available which was very good. Beds were comfortable with multiple pillow options. We had a one bedroom suite with a fully equipped kitchen and living area. Couch was a bit too firm for our comfort. Bedroom was comfortable; dressing area/ bathroom really spacious.nComplementary Afternoon iced teas were tasty and refreshing!nThey had a nice varied menu with generous portions and all of the dishes that we had were delicious.
I arrived to Queenstown in early February 2026, knowing full well I was coming in at a busy part of the season. My flight arrived early -- too early for check-in, I was positive. I asked to have my bags stowed for a few hours...nnBut I lucked out. Shayal helped me at the check-in desk, and was without a doubt he sweetest person on the planet. You want to talk about next level service? My gosh...she got me a room with the most amazing view you've ever seen. It was ready in minutes.nnI'm really nothing special and I didn't expect it at all. I was staying in Queenstown for 9-10 days... and every evening I was able to sit and marvel at the Remarkables and Lake Wakatipu. Thank you, Shayla, from the bottom of my heart. I'll never forget it.nnOh and the buffet breakfast is EXCELLENT, including the coffee machines. I saved so much money eating there every morning. So, so good.nnThe hotel is at the top of a hill, which I had to walk every day. Totally worth it.
