Was a good stay. Food was good quality. However, I found that in addition to the $7 tray fee, all room service foods were $1 more for the same menu in the bar/foier restaurant.nThe burger was outstanding, but when the place got a bit busier, the restaurant supplied a shortened menu, which when compared, had all the lowest price dishes removed forcing you only the highest price options. Felt that it was a bit greedy and deceptive.
I agree with the sentiment of others here that it’s an older hotel with modern comfortable and quiet rooms.nnIf you like the movie The Shining you’ll feel right at home walking the hallways.nnMy only real gripe with the Distinction is the “gym”. I’ve read reviews from over TWO YEARS AGO stating none of the equipment worked and that the one and only treadmill was broken; well I can confirm nothings changed since. There are a few very dated cross trainers and row machines all with dead internal batteries, it’s a such a simple fix to change a battery yet it cannot be done? That same single treadmill is still out of order too. The whole room is a hodgepodge of essentially useless equipment, no joke it feels like you’re in the gymnasium of the Titanic. This rooms only function is to satisfy the technicality of having a gym so they can post it up on their website.nnSOLUTION:nn-Get rid of everything except two row machinesnn-Replace the internal coin batteries!nn-Purchase a simple power lifting setup Rack, bench, barbell and olympic plates. https://www.elitefitness.co.nz/commercialnn-2 new treadmills.nhttps://www.elitefitness.co.nz/treadmills/trainer-9-treadmillnn-A date/time clock on the wall so people don’t confuse the year with 1912nnWill this simple, cost effective investment in a highly neglected facility be resolved…I highly doubt it but I’ve at least done my part.
Was here for a course. Great venue but there was not really any healthy food from the catering. Was all pizza fries and savouries. Would still come again for the venue.
Just wanted to take the time to thank Georgia at front desk for her professional and friendly service. Also want to thank the catering staff for the awesome spread they put on! Just made the weekend stay that little bit extra special!
I have only marked room down as stayed in one of the older rooms. Staying on a budget. The room was huge, clean, air conditioned and well stocked with Tea, coffee and toiletries. The staff were lovely. The food in the restaurant excellent and very well priced. You need a car here. But for me it was perfect being out of town a bit.
