I'd been having issues with a tight zoom on the scope of my beloved Steyr so I stopped in at Ballingers H&F on Thursday the 28th of November 2024. I was served by one of the gun guys there I believe his name is Thayer.nThis guy disassembled the scope setup, cleaned the rings, screws and scope and reassembled everything only to find that the issue was not resolved. Rather than giving up on it, he proceeded to disassemble it all again, flipped a ring around and reassembled it all once again, torqued it all to spec and boom, the issue was fixed. As if this wasn't enough already, he then bore sighted it and sent me on my way. He wouldn't accept payment or the offer of a coffee. He did this all with a smile on his face and made me feel although I wasn't at all an inconvenience to himself or the store.nPeople like this ensure return customers and he is a true asset to Hunting and Fishing. Regardless of his current pay rate, this man deserves a pay rise!nI believe this is the epitome of brilliant customer service and I hope he is acknowledged for his work. I would of come back to Hunting and Fishing anyway but this just made damn sure of it. Love ya stuff, cya next time !

I bought a Shimano fishing reel from Hunting and Fishing Christchurch last Saturday with a 10-year guarantee. I chose Shimano for its reputation and trusted brand quality, and I specifically chose to buy from Hunting and Fishing instead of online because it’s a well-known store in NZ.nnAfter just one use, the nylon started slipping because the reel’s coil doesn’t oscillate properly. When I returned to the store, Manager Jeremy not only refused to honor the guarantee, blaming scratches and sand, but also claimed I wasn’t charged for nylon after checking my receipt. This is incorrect—I bought a set that included both the rod and reel.nnWhat’s the point of a 10-year guarantee if it doesn’t cover an issue within a week? Extremely disappointed in both the product and the service.
