This wonderful bakery on the edge of the CBD produces excellent bread and pastries. We stopped for lunch and it was amazing - and we loved the black forest gateau and the carrot and hazelnut cake.

I came for a pie but was put off by the prices ($7) and they didn't even look that appetising. I did however buy one of their loaves of bread (also $7 but large and heavy, yum!) and was very happy with that.

Simply the best pies, anywhere in the world. Trying to figure out how I can get back to Oamaru from Australia already.. Make sure you visit!!!!

One of Oamarus many secrets. It's a couple of blocks off the main road heading through town. But it's got: Great meals, great coffee/teas and German style organic, sourdough breads and cakes & biscuits. And now there are fantastic pies with fresh variants on old favorites and some you've never tried, until now. All from the warm & friendly owners. Who are a well known and treasured Oamaru family. Seriously, what's not to like here? Simply a "must visit" for anyone who is in Oamaru, who is wanting a sight or taste and enjoyment of some great home style food. Whether that home is in NZ or Europe. It's well worth the 5 minute diversion to your day to drop by. If you are passing through town. Stop in and buy something for later. If you have time, sit down and enjoy it immediately, then buy something to take home. Either way, you will be glad you did.
