Story

Milligans Café & Store has a compact, eclectic, dedicated team who bring great service combined with the tastiest food, drinks and hopefully a big cheesy grin in this revamped heritage building.

Whether you fancy free-range eggs with Hampden bacon and a strong Mojo flat white coffee, or one of our much-loved pies with a beer or glass of red, or you’ve dropped in to grab a something take-away as you pass by, just know that we aim to please!

We also have a great selection of Milligans products on the shelves, with the best value cheeses in town and classic Granny Faye’s mixes and sauces. Our eclipse flour, milled at Ngapara, is proving a hit with the local bakers, our furthest customer driving up from Dunedin to stock up.

Our menu is home-made in our small, but perfectly formed kitchen using ingredients from local suppliers and producers and our drinks are largely sourced from quality New Zealand manufacturers, brewers and wineries.

As a new venture we try to attract people from all walks of life and continually tweak our menu and review our practices, to deliver a fresh range of popular items, with the odd sidewinder thrown in the mix to keep you on your toes.

As summer begins to stroll towards us, we look forward to extending our weekend opening hours and the evolution of Milligans Café & Store.
