The wind wand is part of the coastal walk or bike trail. Highly recommended. Beautiful clean and close to the other attractions of New Plymouth
It is such a beautiful place here. I walk along here during my lunch breaks at work. There is a beautiful walkway, amazing shoreline and some interesting monuments. It is in the centre of New Plymouth and so close to everything
Obviously an icon on the coastal walkway, the wind wand sways back & forth on the ocean breezes as the sculptor, Len Lye, wished it to. He had a passion for dance in his work evidently & how that manifests on the breezes with the ocean as a backdrop is artistic in itself. At night the light is an icon of the waterfront
super pretty view, bit boring tho
I'm not sure what the wind wand is for, but it was apparently designed by a famous NZ artist Len Lye. The coastal walkway where the wind wand stands or sways is an amazing walk though and definitely worth the visit.nnThis kinetic sculpture just makes things more interesting, I guess
