Brooklands Zoo is a great place to visit. The kids love going there. I've also had my sons birthday there, such a nice family-friendly environment. They recently got baby kune kune pigs, that was the highlight of our visit! Also really appreciate it being free.
A wonderful mini zoo for kids. And it's free! There are farm animals, birds, meerkats, otters and monkeys, to name a few. There is a huge playground in the centre, and lots of tables under shade. Give yourself an hour to see everything.
This is not a must-do but if you're staying in New Plymouth for a few days and want to go for a walk, the zoo is a good place to start, then you can wander in the park.nIt is free and there is a playground for kids. The zoo has many animals, exotic mammals, monkeys, birds. Most of them are kept in pens/ cages with a glass to look through. The alpacas, capybara and some others don't have the glass.nnI enjoyed the zoo until I saw the Alpacas pens. No grass, mostly gravel. Small enclosure. One of the 3 alpacas was going in circles. Quite sad seeing that. Maybe there is another space for them that the public doesn't see. I hope. I'm sure that they are well treated by the staff but they most probably deserve more space than they have.
Beautiful place, lovely animals. Highly recommended.
Cool place, it’s a shame about them closing down : Council doesn’t seem to care. Which sounds like our current council. Great place to take the kids and a fun place to visit and go for walks
