My wife was referred to the emergency department after being visited by a GP because of a sudden pain in her right eye. Her eye had turned red and swollen up in a work accident, so I took her to the Northern Hospital Emergency Department with the referral letter. It was crowded and I can kinda accept that we had to wait for 2 hours and 20 minutes. During this time her eye gradually started to heal by itself. After being kept waiting after such a long time, we were led to the "Eye Room" by a nurse. Then he left the room without telling us what was going to happen next. So again we waited for another 15 minutes when the doctor came in. First of all she was not aware of the referral letter in my wife's profile. Then she asked her if she could see her fingers and count them. That was it! She said you can go home now. When I asked the doctor if she was going to check her eye through the slit lamp, she replied that she didn't know how to use it and because it was after 5 pm there was no one else in the hospital who could use the instrument! They even didn't wash her eye! To make a long story short, this is not an emergency department but an unorganised clinic. At the end we filled in a complaint form but haven't been contacted yet. PS If there is no one who can use the slit lamp instrument, then what's the point to see the patient in the "Eye Room"?!
