It lies immediately to the west of Epping Plaza.It is a 400-bed hospital serving the northern suburbs of Melbourne, as well as the surrounding country areas of Victoria. It has one of the busiest emergency departments in the state.The nursing wards are called Units with the following names: Children Unit, Coronary Care, Intensive Care, Maternity and Women's Health, Medical, Surgical, Psychiatry, Short Stay Unit, cardiovascular laboratory and Special Care Nursery.The Northern Hospital is one of the clinical schools of the Melbourne Medical School.

Maternity Unit is DISGUSTING.My daughter in law gave birth last week. The very first milk expressed ( which is the most important and nutrient for the baby) was at her bedside table. 3 hours later we tell the midwife if we should put it in the fridge and we are told not to because when they have time they will give to baby. Then another 3 hours later we ask midwife again. This time she says don't worry about it and tosses it as it has passed the used by time ( which is max 6 hours). Then when the same midwife comes to take her bloodpressure she ask sfor a glass of water ( not to mention she had emergency C section and is alone) and is told to get up and get it herself. Complete waste of important milk while midwife could not give a toss

Worst ever hospital. My wife was due for baby and she was in active pain for 2 days . When she was nearly unconscious they find out that the baby position is breched. Stay away for this place . If anyone knows how can i took legal action plz reply me

Very poor medical service. Inadequate medical service that is understaffed. If I was dying I would rather crawl all the way to the Alfred hospital than risk having to be treated here. And watch the onsite parking inspector. This sniper gave me a parking ticket at 4.30am whilst i was visiting my girlfriend in emergency overnight. I would say this is mostly our governments fault with lack of funding, and it looks like they rely on parking fines to help fund this hole.

Absolutely disgusting hospital. Pathetic disrespectful workers who don’t give a toss about the patients. Stay away from this hell hole.
