Thank you to the pediatric ward and especially Roger. Although the team at the Northern were inundated with patients, when he came to see us he was amazing with our daughter. He was professional, kind and knowledgeable and willing to stop and have a conversation with us so that we left feeling safe and satisfied. We appreciate everything you and the team of doctors and nurses do every day.
A month ago, my daughter suddenly developed severe abdominal pain and vomiting. We took her to Northern Hospital Epping. They only did a urine test, said she had a urinary infection, gave antibiotics, and sent us home. The pain settled for a short while.nnHowever, a month later the same symptoms returned, so we took her back to Northern Hospital again. This time too, they only checked her urine. They mentioned there was a little blood in it but insisted it couldn’t be appendicitis because the pain “was not that severe.” They simply gave her Panadol and sent us home again saying see GP if symptoms continues. Despite this being our second emergency visit, they didn’t bother to do even a basic blood test or any further investigation.nnHer pain continued, so the next day we took her to the Royal Children’s Hospital. Based on her symptoms, they immediately suspected appendicitis and performed blood tests, a urine test, and an ultrasound. The results showed very high inflammation, and they proceeded with surgery. According to the surgeon, her appendix was already burst.I really appreciate the team at the Royal Children’s Hospital for identifying her condition correctly and treating it promptly.nnI am extremely disappointed with Northern Hospital Epping. Despite two emergency visits within a month for the same issue, they failed to take her condition seriously. If they had assessed my daughter properly in the beginning, her condition might not have worsened. I never expected such negligent service from Northern Hospital in a country known for having one of the best healthcare standards.
I’ve honestly had such a great experience at the Northern Hospital. The nurses and doctors I had were different people for the 3 days I’ve spent in the SSU , but they were all amazing and tended to me with care, even going over and beyond for me. My Fiancé also stayed with me for most those times and he was also treated with care. I often hear a lot of negative reviews about this place and obviously don’t know how other people were treated and what they went through and I can only speak for myself when I say everyone was awesome. I had an option to be transferred to the private hospital as a PHI holder but didn’t need to as I honestly appreciate the care I was getting from the staff. I would name all the doctors and nurses one by one but I was on pain meds most of the time so I don’t remember.
Less than 24 hours after a C-section, I was told to get up and feed my baby alone because “everyone is busy.” This is not just poor service — it is dangerous and goes against medical advice.nThe hospital pushes for mothers to get admitted for delivery, but once you are inside, they don’t have enough staff to care for you. Completely disorganised and unsafe.nWorst maternity experience of my life. No empathy, no care, and absolutely no support when you need it the most. If you’re planning to deliver here, please reconsider
My partner re-ruptured her Achilles at the physio in Northern Hospital and was sent to Emergency at 10am. She waited the entire day with barely any updates. At 7pm we were told the ultrasound team had already gone home at 6pm, so she’d have to stay overnight.nnShe stayed overnight, stayed super patient through all of it, and then waited the whole next day again and still never got an ultrasound or any proper assessment. After more than 24 hours, all she got was a referral to go elsewhere.nnThe nurses who tended to her were genuinely super friendly and did their best, but the whole situation was really disappointing. There just didn’t seem to be any urgency in actually helping her, and after doing everything they asked, she left with no real outcome.
