Had a long wait at the Alfred emergency in Melbourne. You see people from all walks of life there. Good people but maybe not fortunate as you are. Respect to all. The nurses were patient and kind, and once you’re in, the service and care are impeccable.nnThere’s good security on site, which makes the place feel safe. Parking is available on the street, but it fills up quickly and you might be there 5 to 6 hours. Best to take an Uber so you don’t need to worry about parking fines etc. 7-11 end of the street.nnMake sure you have a genuine reason to go in and try not to waste their time. The health system is already under huge stress and more vulnerable people need access first if possible.nnBig shout out to the health workers and doctors. What they do is extremely tough and driven purely by passion and love.nnSalute.
What a horrible place!. Right from the word go all staff have been extremely rude!. Nurses seem to lack training or compassion. Doctors will tell you with out looking at you that they are to busy to see you. I hade to say I wasn't allowed back in to my accommodation without a Doctors note just so they would be forced to look at me. So they took some blood to make me happy even though I wouldn't think they would consult the patient on what test their untrained selves would do? That's when you know it's time to get scared. They sent me home with a capillary refill taking longer that 12 seconds to return. Now the next morning my foot is twice as bad and 4 times as sore! It feels like ice to the touch of my hand and doesn't seem to be getting any good blood flow or enough oxygen and on my released papers they even said I was quite keen to get home but how That's medically relevant i don't know but I had said I'd prefer to be at home but I think 99% of patients would say that when the choice is home or hospital. I wasn't treated i was dealt with. I even had to ask for a mental health consult just to get them to look and the psychologist literally just laughed and said that their was clearly nothing mentally wrong & I just seemed a bit more agitated than their usual customer & I thought that's probably because the usual customer probably actually gets treated!
I recently stayed at the Alfred Hospital and was deeply impressed by the level of care I received. The doctors were amazing—kind, professional, and attentive. The overall service and medical care were fantastic. The blood test team were incredibly skilled and professional, and the nurses were generally wonderful like an angels—caring, compassionate, and supportive. The nutrition team provided excellent support, and the pharmacy service was also very good.nnWhile I did encounter a few nurses who came across as cold and unkind, I understand that this can happen anywhere. Overall, though, my experience at the Alfred Hospital was overwhelmingly positive, and I’m truly grateful to everyone who cared for me.

It looks super inviting, and is now back in line with The Alfred stellar reputation!nPS You are in good hands here...nI signed up for the online patient portal. No miss-communication or missed appointments here.
The people are incredibly friendly. They're incredibly attentive and always smiling. No matter how many questions I ask, they always give me more than just a friendly answer. I had my surgery today, and everyone was attentive until I actually came out. Even though I'm away from home and I don't speak English very well, they patiently explained everything over and over again. I'd like to thank the nurses in the emergency room and the nurses on the patient care floor. You are wonderful people.
