About

South Yarra Medical is one part of three family medical centres in Melbourne, offering consultations 6 days of the week with either male or female GP's.

Story

South Yarra Medical and Richmond Medical were founded by Dr Luke Holden and Dr Dan Moylan. They have been long term friends since studying Medicine together at Monash University.

Luke and Dan continue to own and operate the clinic. Such doctor involvement is becoming less common with the widespread corporatisation of General Practice.

South Yarra Medical was formed in 2007, while Richmond Medical was established in 2009.

In late 2016 a third clinic will be opening - Hawthorn Medical - located at 125 Power St, Hawthorn.

The focus has always been to provide an excellent level of healthcare - to the level they would wish for their own friends and family.

Another priority has been to provide the Clinic’s GPs with industry leading facilities and working conditions. Consequently they have been able to attract the most highly skilled and friendly doctors available, to join the team.

The clinics are also involved in the training program for General Practice Trainees.

I broke my toe yesterday and was expecting a lengthy wait for an appointment. I called South Yarra Medical at 8.40 and they got me in at 9.15am, I was referred for x-ray and then seen again by a doctor at midday. Dr Kerr was absolutely lovely and efficient and I didn't have to wait at all.

Had an appointment early Saturday morning; had to walk out because Again they were late. I had to go find more parking. Receptionist was zero help, I left swiftly and didn't have chance to explain. I called from my car to explain why I had to leave. She said it was fine and that she had informed the doctor. I was shocked to not receive an apology or offer for another appointment etc. I asked about leaving for another practise and she told me how and practically encouraged me to leave. I thought maybe she needed a reminder I was annoyed. So I said "well thanks for your apology for keeping me waiting" she hung up. Below is the review I gave a year ago; I gave a generous 2 stars. I have ammended this and taken my own advice. I'm not sure there's anything really wrong with the level of medical advice and service. It's more to do with how long you wait. I've never been seen on time here even if your early in the day. Average of 30minutes late for me; this means you have to keep feeding the parking. Probably time I found somewhere else.

Doctor I see is good. Nurse is fantastic. Receptionist needs more training as to how to deal and speak with a customer. It is private not bulk billed so you expect a little bit more when u are paying for it.

Excellent care and customer service. I've been to two different doctors for different consultations and received great service from both. The nurse was also wonderful.

Fantastic clinic, easy to get an appointment and rarely have to wait nor feel rushed. Dr Ben Carrison provides stellar care.
