PLEASE anyone dealing with mental health issues, I advise never to go to Northpark.nI discharged myself after one week.nThere is no care or empathy here, most days I cried without any assistance from nursing staff, they just ignored you.nOn 2 occasions I was just given medication to sleep, that’s the way they deal with things. Upon discharging myself, they stated I was being discharged without consent keeping all my medication that were taken in by myself that weren’t even prescribed by them. The incompetent of staff handling medication was ridiculous.nOn numerous occasions giving me more medication then requested by my psychiatrist, I had to explain to them they were giving me a triple dose.nI have tried contacting them regarding my medication, they said they would call back and never have. They changed my medication but were happy to send me home without any of them.nMy anxiety and depression were heightened to levels I had never experienced before. Every day there was an issue with medications, just simple things like vitamins. This was the first time of admission and someone who has suffered from mental health for over 24 years decided to finally admit myself.nI now understand how broken our health care system is. There is no help.nMy body trembling, with tears running down my face most days.nWe get the courage to admit ourselves and I can guarantee I will never do so again.
Here’s a strong and clear review how I was treated and how I feltnnnnnI had a very upsetting experience with midwife Anne after my C-section. Instead of providing care and support at such a vulnerable time, she treated me with complete insensitivity. Her attitude and behavior were extremely unkind and dismissive, which made me feel even more distressed while I was already in pain and recovering. She was so rude and unempathetic that she brought me to tears during one of the hardest times of my life.nnA midwife should be someone who offers compassion, reassurance, and care, but sadly Anne did the opposite. No new mother should be made to feel this way!!! And when you are spending 10000 $ !!!
Right up/front, and in the interests of total transparency; I was never provided the opportunity to be admitted to the private psychiatric facility at Northpark, wherein lies the core of my dissatisfaction with this hospital obviously the admin staff. If Google Reviews allowed zero stars that’s what I would score them.nMy initial contact began on 3 Dec, and without revealing too many graphic details of my personal condition, this was initiated by my psychologist, psychiatrist, treating GP, and my insurer. These parties acted with professionalism and a strong sense of urgency.nNorthpark was chosen, and my need to receive urgent private inpatient mental health intervention was deemed to be of the ‘life-saving’ category. I complied with Northpark’s necessary bureaucratic requirements and completed the requirements by 6 Dec, having been delayed by the necessity to rely upon my medical team for the requested documentation/information.nOn 8 Dec, Belinda called and informed me that they couldn’t provide timely admission for certain reasons lack of beds, available doctors, and also any doctors willing to accept me as a patient which was obviously disappointing, but it was Belinda’s inability to avoid displaying discourtesy, defensiveness, and a lack sympathy that caused me in my clearly distressed state a great deal of frustration, pain, and anguish, which worsened my already clearly poor mental state.nSo I’m left with the unavoidable impression that Northpark’s inpatient psychiatric facilities are poorly served by Belinda.nShe may have been having a bad day, etc, but it’s not unreasonable to expect that someone in her role should be able to behave in a manner that accommodates folks who are in a state whereby they should expect someone who can do their job without becoming a hindrance and impediment for those who are in need of life saving care.nI would NOT recommend anyone to consider this facility for help with their mental health and all members of my mental health team have expressed their bewilderment at the actions of this individual, whose role, at least in part, is to interface with patients who are highly vulnerable.nNow on 11 Dec my team and I are still trying to lock-down another private inpatient facility.nAnd yes, I know that I can show up to a public hospital’s emergency department and hope they can admit me to a public inpatient mental health facility - but for anyone whose also been through that ordeal before, it’s absolutely a last resort, and to be avoided at all possible costs.nI bid good luck to anyone who’s going to attempt admittance to Northpark’s inpatient psychiatric facilities. I sincerely hope that you get Belinda on one of the days that she behaves as you’d expect, or better still, that there’s someone else who handles your intake.
Great experience overall. The stay, hospitality, doctors and midwives were all amazing. My C-section was handled with so much care, and the support throughout recovery was excellent. I genuinely felt looked after from start to finish. Highly recommend Northpark Private Hospital.
I was lucky enough to get emergency surgery here, back when they still had an emergency department. Very professional place. Highly skilled surgeon. Very good service. The rooms would do well with a bit of renovation walls could be painted, and furniture could be updated. Otherwise, very happy with the care provided here.
