I have returned home after hip replacement surgery here. My surgeon and his team were excellent. I found the hospital to be excellent for my needs as well. Special praise goes to the majority of staff I came in contact with. The nursing staff here were largely friendly, cheerful and professional so thank you. The catering staff were also friendly and accommodating. I found the meals to be above expectation both in variety and taste. Meal presentation was also excellent.nAll in all, a hospital visit worth remembering.
If I could give this 0 stars I would. My brother had spinal surgery over a week ago, and was discharged a few days after with absolutely NO aftercare instructions, no rehabilitation advice or support, and the only check up appointment is 2 months away. No additional dressings were provided for his surgical wounds, and when emails were made they were never responded to. When the case manager contacted us back she was rude and lacked bedside manner. Super disappointed considering it was completely private care, yet the “care” wouldn’t even call it that was less than what you’d receive in the public system. Do better
I had surgery a month ago and my experience was very positive!nnThe nurses were giving attention and caring a lot, always asking if everything was okay, if I was needing something and etc.nnI didn't have any issues with painkillers. They were being administrated all the time and I was very comfortable.nnI'm also hearing impaired, and they made me have a very positive experience regarding this too. I felt very comfortable with everything.nnThank you all a lot!
Memorial Kids - we had an excellent experience for our 27 month old's grommets surgery last week. The process from early preparation support, prior information through to the day of surgery was smooth, and we couldn't have asked for it all to be any better! The children's day bed ward space is inviting and comfortable for little ones toys/ books/ teddy bear gift and wonderful nursing staff, as well as for parents. Dr Chong completed the surgery and Dr Lavender was wonderful for the anaesthesia. Thank you!
After all the money we paid to get into this hospital I was quite disappointed with the results. My partner was sent in for spinal fusion, to start off the traumatising experience, a nurse attempted to put a needle into his hand 3 times, each time pulling the needle out bent before telling him they will have to just do it in his sleep. This resulted in major bruising up his arm still going down a week later. This was ridiculous right off the bat, especially for a patient who fears needles. The only thing that exceeded my expectations and made me feel at ease was the CCU nurses well, all but one. The ladies on shift here were very comforting, attentive and caring of him and us as visitors. Visiting hours were very strict, one night we got told off walking in the wrong door, being 2 entrances to the CCU and our first couple days there, she made me feel very uncomfortable telling me and his mother off for not knowing the rules, running in the room stressing that I must not wake him up, when I wasn’t even near him, then continuing to stand over me while I grabbed his charger from HIS bag, furthermore telling me to leave because he was asleep. Working a full time job and being able to see him for a minimal time, they would put him to sleep during visiting hours and not give us a heads up, causing us to waste a lot of money on transport for no reason. Other then that I couldn’t of asked for better nurses looking after him and want to thank them all. Once out of CCU, we were transported to Ashford to see a cardiologist, this hospital was great also, giving me as a visitor food, access to kitchen, a reclining lounge to sleep on with a blanket and more. This was very helpful as my partner and I have high functioning anxiety, this made everything a lot easier for us. Once back at the memorial, the nurses were rolling their eyes, walking away and ignoring requests as if it was nothing to them. This was the most traumatic thing we have experienced, telling us he is an adult and I must leave, no support or care shown at all, I appreciate them looking after him, but a bit less of an attitude would of made a but more sence. At the end of all of this, he was rushed home because they needed the bed, he was given no instructions, no care plan, no things to look out for or to avoid. Nothing. We have been at home trying to figure this all out on our own, even had to book a phone appointment with the surgeon to ask these critical questions. We had no heads up that the drugs he was prescribed would make him suicidal and give him insomnia. As a family, none of us have slept this past week, up all night trying to convince him not to die. As he slowly gets off the meds, I realise how serious these side effects were, and we only found out by doing our own research. This is not good enough for a private hospital. But I want to thank all the nurses in CCU that made this experience a lot easier.
