Went to emergency recently for chest pains. Stay were friendly and efficient. I was prioritized and seen almost immediately. Both doctors and nurses were professional and good at their jobs. The staff definitely made a worrying time easier.
A huge thank you to the amazing staff at Modbury Hospital for all your wonderful care whilst I was in for a Cystoscopy, Ureteroscopy, Laser & Stent procedure to remove my kidney stone on 23 Oct 2025. From the Admissions Admin Staff, Day Procedure Nurse Mikayla, Urology Team Laurence, Anaesthetist Kyle, Anaesthetist Nurse Veronica, Theatre Staff , Recovery Nurse and the Volunteers…..you all do an amazing job and your care was wonderful. THANK YOU, Diane Innes
Re: Emergency Department. During my 4+ hour wait I was asked a few times if I needed pain relief. I refused a few times as my pain was not so bad, but after 10 hours on hard plastic chairs, when offered, I asked for pain relief. The nurse returned and said I couldn't have any more pain relief as I'd already had some. This was untrue, I had received zero pain relief since arriving. I was shocked, she walked off. Next time she went past I asked her what had just happened here. She again stated that I had already received pain relief when the only medication I had received was an antihistamine. After inferring I was trying it on for pain relief, she would no longer talk about it.nnEither the administration of medication records has failed, or the nurse has failed to check it, then has left me in agony. This is not acceptable. As it was just after 9am, I called my GP and left the hospital to access some basic health care.nnMy anaphylactic reaction was treated in a suburban GP, but only after a night spent across two public hospitals, both of which failed dismally to even listen, look at my skin or help in any way. Instead I spent 10 hours rolling around in agony while staff watched, talked and laughed among themselves. The health system is preoccupied with the health system, sitting around talking about pay and conditions while ignoring the patients.nnThis is what a collapsed health system looks like.
Had a fantastic experience at the emergency department today. Went there 6:30am for a severe tonsillitis. Was looks at by doctor within the hour or so. They took care of me really well continued monitoring me for extended periods.
Please stay away from this place, specially in case of an emergency.nWaiting times are insane.nI do understand that there's a process to prioritize patients, though I've seen they had no care or any attention to some patients who were struggling regardless my case.nLot of them left before even getting any treatment, just because they were waiting for so many hours.nWe had to do the same thing and was very exited to receive a bill @5.00am for having no care or treatment.
