Towon was established in 2003 at Chatswood. It has specialized mainly in Korean-Chinese, producing signature dishes such as the black bean noodle, that has captured the taste of local Australians. With our main chef having over 20 years experience in Chinese-Korean food, Towon continues to create fine and unique dishes until today. As a result, Towon and Soban together has obtained recognition among the locals including Koreans within Sydney.

This is quite old compound restaurants i.e. they have two different restaurants in one joint location at the top-floor of Chatswood Westfield complex. The older brother is Towon Chinese Cuisine, which specializes in Cantonese-style food and the unique Korean-Chinese cuisine (hybrid Chinese cuisine adapted by South Korean taste / ingredients), and the younger brother is Soban Korean Cuisine which specializes in Korean cuisine.

Though Soban is a good restaurant which offers standard Korean dishes like bulgogi, bibimbap and various soups (ji-gae) but there's nothing much to say. You can find similar food around K-Town in Sydney CBD or other Korean suburbs like Eastwood or Strathfield.  Their ban-chan is good quality but not many varieties and in small quantity. Price and services are average - therefore, I give rating score 3.5 / 5.

However, the one that I visit most often is the Towon side. First, they have 2 sections of menu i.e. the standard Chinese Canto-style offering and the unique Korean-Chinese cuisine offering. I've tried both and they're really of good quality not only in cooking style or taste but also in terms of quality ingredients they use. You won't find cheap meat-cuts or frozen / imported seafood here. You'll be surprised to find the quality of their Canto-style dishes are better than the average Cantonese restaurants you find in Sydney suburbs considering the owner of this restaurant is a Korean lady (not a Chinese).  However, their best offer is with their Korean-Chinese dishes like jjajang-myeon, champoeng noodle soup, tang-suyuk (sweet and sour pork Korean style) and the best champoeng / kanpoeng gi / sae-woo (fried battered chicken / prawns in chilli and pepper sauce)  you would find in North Shore suburbs and maybe in Sydney.  Their prices are above average if compared with average Chinese restaurants in Sydney suburbs since they use quality ingredients and are located in the convenient Westfield mall which charges hefty rents to their tenants.  This is the unfortunate fact and I can only give them a rating of 4.5/5.

I also don't understand about other reviews that mentioned rude services ?  I always find the services as good / average / OK.

Multiple dead cockroaches on the bottom of chinese bread, appeared to be cooked together... no apology given at all, the owner is so rude and basically said 'ok, I will give you a refund', excuse me? We never touched the food!

Owner is rude. When we ordered food, the beef was served burnt. Asked the owner to do about it. Takes the beef washes with water and serves back kinda throwing the dish to the tablend.  Never going again.
