***Two months update*** Smithwick’s official reply to my property manager, “The plumbing is finished. The speed controller has been bypassed to get the water service restored. There is a PCB on order for the full fix but if you have had any experience purchasing chips recently you will know that is going to take quite some time. As previously advised to your tenant, when the building was drained and refilled, it stirs up the debris in the bottom of the tank and that can take a long time to settle. It can’t be helped but each unit was told to run their taps for 10-15 minutes to flush their lines. Nobody reported to me that this has not worked and no compensation will be provided.” With the suggestion of a puny 10-15 minutes flush, shows perfectly clear how bad and little their knowledge and understanding to the whole situation. And completely disregarded the signed notice with people vouching for the water issues the building had faced for weeks. I understand no one likes any issues to happen in a place that you live, not the landlord, not the property manager, not the strata and surely not us as occupants. Part of the strata’s duty is to act as an extension for all the relevant party. At the same time, take care the wellbeing of the building and the people within. When problem arises, strata will resolve issues swiftly and efficiently. It is a lot to juggle but it is also one of the mere reason why strata exist. Throughout the years, I have experience different strata firsthand. While there is always the good things and the bad things, unfortunately with Smithwick case all the bads has already overshadowed the goods. And the expectation to a strata has not been set as low as now.
While we are in the early days of working with Smithwick, I just wanted to compliment Rhys. We prepared an owner’s guide which he went through and reviewed and added some unexpected value adds. I feel like he is really engaged in ensuring we get the best service he can provide. I had also asked for a maintenance request form to which he replied with a flyer that included the bar code that once scanned opens a web site on the phone yes I tested this. Have also checked out the owners portal which is really good so kudos to Smithwick. Would you please give Rhys a pat on the back for me. I am sure we will have a lot of strata stuff issues to deal with going forward but the quality of all round service delivered so far is the best I have experienced with any strata management firm to date.
Our apartment building has had several strata managers since it was built, over two decades ago. Smithwick would be the worst!! Their service is appalling!! They don't respond to emails, you just get fobbed off! It takes forever for anything to get done. Henry Vurens van Es is rude, arrogant and unprofessional. Would never recommend this company, stay away!! Don't make the mistake we did!! Whoever gave this company 5 stars must be dealing with a different "Smithwick Strata Services".
Been with Smithwicks for a number of years now as a property owner. I believe the service and professionalism has only improved over this time. As with any good company, it has evolved and grown to meet customer demand, provided sound advise and management, and undertaken appropriate action where and when required.
I have dealt with a lot of strata companies over the years but Smithwick have been the easiest to deal with by far. Dave is super quick to respond. Marianne and Debbie are always available when required. Neil Flynn their building manager in Innaloo is amazing too. Definitely worth considering if you want an efficient, reliable company.
