I stayed overnight at the hotel and overall had a good experience. I did not get much time to explore the service or location, but the room itself was very spacious, comfortable and had everything I needed.nThe bathroom looked a little dated and the building seems a bit older, but it was still a pleasant and convenient stay. Breakfast was a standard English breakfast with no complaints.nOverall, a good stay and I would give it 4 stars.
Stayed at Rydges Southbank Townsville and overall it was a good experience. The room itself was clean, comfortable and well presented. The pool area was nice, and it was handy having access to a free gym across the road at The Palmer Collective, just need to ask their staff to let you in, easy enough.nOne issue was with the booking. I reserved a King Deluxe through Agoda for a really good price but on arrival I was given two single beds instead. The staff member explained that 3rd party sites can take payment before the hotel’s live inventory is fully confirmed which lead to thr mix up. They were nearly booked out so there wasn’t much that could be done. I wasn’t thrilled but I understood the situation and the rate that I paid was very competitive so it is what it is... that’s where the missing star comes from.nBuffet breakfast was really good with plenty of options. The only downside was that proper barista coffee costs extra and the complimentary option was Blend 43 instant which isn't great.nRoom service responded immediately when requested which I appreciated.nOverall, solid stay in a great Southbank location with friendly staff and good facilities, just double check bed configuration if booking through a 3rd party website or app.
Have been staying there several times rooms have always been pretty goodnBut lately the cleanliness has dropped below standards was reported to the reception and they basically blew it off. Didn’t care. Pretty disappointing nice motel generally good staff must’ve had a bad run on the staff. This particular day. The staff were half rudenThe room had food and wrappers and crap under the bed was just very dirtynVery disappointing
During a three-week trip we changed hotels frequently, ending up with a double-digit number of different accommodations. This particular hotel was only for one night, and we had specifically requested a higher standard overall.nnMy disappointment was significant. The room in this hotel was simply not up to an acceptable standard in terms of quality or workmanship. A lot can be tolerated when traveling, but in this case the room appeared poorly and strangely repaired, with solutions that made little sense.nnI work in the construction industry, and this would never have passed an inspection. There were visible gaps, odd air drafts, bathroom fixtures installed at what felt like child height, and incomplete floor tiling. In several places, tile adhesive was visible where fixtures had been installed on top of unfinished flooring. Overall, there were many questionable construction and finishing details.nnWhat made the experience even more surprising was that when I pointed out these issues, the staff claimed this was their “front room” — the best room they had. They also considered themselves a four-star hotel. I had to make it clear that this was simply not realistic. It was not even at a three-star level, except perhaps in their own imagination.nnOut of all the hotels we stayed at during our 3,200 km road trip along the east coast, this was by far the most disappointing. I cannot recommend this hotel.
Stayed here for my second visit after staying there in my last trip to Townsville. Checked in and went up to my floor but asked to change rooms as the whole floor stank of glue.nnThey sent me to another room that wasn't made up, so back to reception and the manager said to the lady he had let it out for a day rental, so back to room three which was good.nnThe room is nice and they are quiet which is good as well. Had all the things you would like in a hotel room, with a nice television, a desk and chair, a comfortable bed and a clean bathroom.nnBreakfast is good value at $22 for a buffet breakfast which I took up the offer of, and enjoyed very much.nnIt is in a great location on the main strip of Palmerston Street and along the strip there are a nice array of restuarants. When I say nice, I do not mean 'The Pub' next door which does charge backs, which I used and was not very good.nnMy contacts tell me if you stay there to eat at the Yacht Club over the road which I will do if I was to go back again.nnA nice hotel, good undercover parking and in a great location.nnThat's a yes from me.
