Rambutan is an Australian 5 star backpackers, with a rooftop restaurant, bar and pool ideal for a multitude of travellers and locals to enjoy.

Story

Rambutan is Main land Australia's first ever 5 star backpackers accommodation located right in the heart of the nightlife in Townsville city. All accommodation is now part of the YHA network! So if you are a YHA member you can receive great discounts across Townsville Queensland. Nominated for 2 design and building awards the resort itself has an impressive 58 rooms and powered van sites to accommodate a multitude of travellers. Will live music every weekend and backpackers games and deals through the week you are sure to find something new to do in and around Rambutan.

From playful dorms to stylish king rooms, each with their own private en-suite and air-conditioning, guests at Rambutan can enjoy every bit of luxury during their stay without the hefty price tag.

Having kept every type of traveller in mind, Rambutan’s pioneering concept of underground mobile van sites, allow travellers on the go, to park in a secure spot, have access to power and make use of the resorts facilities.

Our onsite restaurant open seven days, from 12pm featuring a Southern American inspired menu including 16 hour slow cooked Brisket and 12 Inch Cuban Po boy’s.

Rambutan’s rooftop bar and pool are the perfect place for locals and backpackers to socialise over a few drinks and indulge in the resort's laid-back ambience.

Lovely location and nice size rooms. Reception was great and we were allowed to leave our car for a couple hours after checkout which was great.nWe were in room 8 and it could do with a better clean. They use alot of bleach in the water to clean the floor. You can see where they have cleaned because the mop marks are slowly taking away the colour of the tile where they mop. Unfortunately it also means you can see the surface clean they do and where they clearly don't clean! Behind the door on the wall is covered in dust aswell, you can clearly see they do a quick clean on high touch areas only! The fridge was filthy as were the drinking cups. Comfy beds and clean sheets. Just needs a bit more detail to the cleaning. Nice restaurant and pool area. Is loud until about 10pm from the restaurant area. We paid $130 so was good for the price
I really enjoyed my stay at Rambutan Resort.nnFor around $190 per night, I thought it offered excellent value. The room was comfortable, there were thoughtful touches like complimentary bottled water and milk, and the overall experience felt easy and welcoming.nnThe bar staff were lovely and genuinely added to the experience. I was also there on a Friday afternoon when they had $2 oysters available in four different flavours. I tried all four and they were all fresh and very enjoyable.nnThe only thing worth mentioning is the surrounding nightlife. I was in Room 3 and had planned on having an early night, but I could hear the bass from nearby nightclubs. That is more an oversight on my part than something I blame the hotel for given the central location, but it is worth keeping in mind for anyone particularly sensitive to noise or wanting a very quiet early night.nnOverall, though, I had a great experience. Lovely staff, good value, a great atmosphere and nice little touches in the room. I would happily stay again.
Have recently stayed here for 3 nights and I had a great stay. Location is right in the middle of all the action was suited me well. Lots of Bars, Clubs and Restaurant near by.nThe 3rd floor layout is ideal with all the rooms surrounding the pool and bar. If I wasn't there for a planned sporting event, I could have easily spent all day around the pool and bar. It didn't worry me greatly, but attention to detail with the cleaning was the only downside.nWill definitely stay here again.
I was nervous having read some of the reviews, but my room was gorgeous! Beautifully decorated, made up and had lots of comforts like a kettle/fridge.nI've been very comfortable, it's right in the centre of town and the staff have been lovely.
Loved the resort feel here. The pool is the heart of the property, with tropical vibes that make it easy to forget you're in the middle of Townsville.nnThe room was comfortable and thoughtfully laid out. I especially liked having the shower and toilet separated, and the symmetry of the entryway lining up perfectly with the bathroom mirror Room 9. Best of all, the pool was literally just a few steps from our door.nnThe overall design of the resort is really clever. Even when you're dining at the restaurant, it never feels like you're sitting amongst hotel rooms. The landscaping and subtle barriers blend everything together beautifully, while the clear pool gates provide easy access between the rooms, pool, and restaurant without feeling intrusive. It's a well-designed space that feels both open and private.nnWhether you're staying here or just dropping in for a meal, it's worth exploring the whole precinct. Rambutan, Armati's and Street Front each bring something different, and together they make this a fantastic place to spend an afternoon or evening.
