Pleased with our care hire from RaD Queenstown. An older car but very tidy and reliable, and an excellent price. I phoned to clarify a few points before booking. The guy I dealt with was so helpful, in fact throughout our hire. Pick up and drop off airport transfer were easy as. Very happy with the experience.
The Subaru xv was amazing to zip around in. Loved being able to put Google maps on the screen and play music from Spotify!
From start to finish a fantastic experience, the pick up and drop off seamless, with both guys in the office and driver very friendly. The car whilst not brand new was very clean and tidy - RaD will definitely be my go to when hiring a car in Queenstown
I strongly advise against booking a rental car with RAD Queenstown. The prices listed on the website are not accurate, and their customer service is very poor. I couldn't find information on their cancellation policy, emailed and followed up by phone a week later after receiving no reply. I booked a vehicle at $85 per day and several days later received an email saying that my booking had been declined and I would need to book a different car at $115 a day. I phoned and noted that two weeks on from my booking and days after it had been declined the website still listed a car at $85 per day. The person I spoke to advised me that he didn't have time to update the website and that my only option was to book a car at $115 a day. I asked to speak to a manager, he advised that he would get the owner to call me but a week later I hadn't heard anything so I called back and was told they would not adjust the price and that they have sought legal advice that allows them to list cars at a price they may not be able to fulfill because it is just a booking request. I advised that I will be lodging a complaint with the Commerce Commission.
The team at RaD Car Hire made the car hire experience super easy, from a simple booking process to prompt pick up from the airport & a fantastic rental car. Definitely recommend checking these guys out & we will certainly be using them again next time we come to Queenstown :
Hiring a rental car for a holiday is usually a super stressful experience but RaD made it so easy and carefree. Will definitely be using them on our next trip to Queenstown.
I tried to book a car with RaD Car Hire and despite being available on the website my booking was rejected and no similar cars in my budget were available. My friend booked a similar car hours after me and did secure a car! Edit: which was not an upsell car as we were offered as the response suggests. 4 days later the website still shows these vehicles available. When I inquired further about the website I was informed I need to speak to head office. Really poor customer service.
This company are honest and reliable in their dealings, and I think they could be the cheapest in Queenstown. The late model Subaru XV we hired was clean, tidy and very comfortable. The team were friendly and professional to deal with. Highly recommend RaD as a non-rip-off car rental company. They also gave us a ride back to the airport for a minimal fee.
Just under 3 weeks ago, as a previous satisfied customer, I went online to get some quotes for car hire in December. When I went to book today, the price on the Forester had jumped $35 a day, approx 30% increase. I rang to check this out only to be told it was the "computer program", obviously set to" rip off" mode. For a friendly, family run business your algorithm has cost you a $2500 hire and a previously happy customer.
So impressed. A great car - 9 years old but delighted with it. Price was great. And the team at RAD - so helpful and down to earth.
