Story
Remuera Library is a local branch of Auckland Libraries, serving the suburb of Remuera. It is housed in a historic building, which is considered to be a landmark in the area.HistoryIn 1915, a branch library was established for Remuera. It was originally located in the brick shops located at 411–413 Remuera Road. The building had previously belonged to the Remuera Road Board, which amalgamated with the Auckland Council in the same year. In 1926, parts of this building were taken to Point Chevalier and used to construct the public library there. On 31 July 1926, the Remuera Library was opened on its present site. The building was designed by the architectural firm Gummer and Ford, who were then one of the leading firms in Auckland. The building shows influences of Neo-Georgian and Arts and Crafts style architecture, stemming from Gummer's study in England under Edwin Lutyens. It has a largely open plan design, which was innovative at the time. The building won a NZIA gold medal for its design in 1928.The building features a large lecture hall which had previously been used to deliver public lectures. At some point in the mid-twentieth century, Auckland Libraries ceased their public lecture series (largely due to declining interest) and the lecture hall was converted to accommodate the library's growing collection. There is an entrance to the library through the lecture hall which remained closed for much of its existence. There were various additions made to the library during the late 1950s and early 1960s, including the building of partitioning walls.

One of the best library in Auckland, ancient and with amiable services, as well as ample amazing recommended books - some are new books! I just love this library, but often need to pay for parking.
The librarians are helpful, friendly and very knowledgeable with great customer service. The children's area is really good.I use the copier to print and scan documents which is helpful to use.
Great teen area and non fiction. Fiction area and large print scattered and limited. Wasn't what I expected but generally well "filled"
Gorgeous old building with easy layout to different sections of books. Friendly and helpful staffs willing to enlighten young ones. Video options also available and some easy puzzles to choose from. Host different fun activities which attracts people to come along. Has nice temperature controlled environment, so suitable for people young or old to spend some time developing their reading habits here.
An excellent library providing free access to all the books for Auckland residence. You can browse internet and take print outs as well. Free WiFi. Must visit place if you love reading books.
Lovely library. A great place to spend a rainy day.
Great, friendly and very quiet library. Thanks to Auckland Council - this is a great place to stop, unwind, and get back on track answering emails and requests with the help of the Free Wi-Fi service
Amazing experience. Lovely lady helped me with daughters enrolment so so grateful. Helpful lady today wish I got her name, I did tell her I will bring a banana cake for her great services lol. Library is nice and quiet, a place to get away from Havoc and mayhem. Beautiful...
One of the best small libraries we have been to in and around Auckland! Facilities are top notch and staff are very friendly.
Looked a bit tired. The kids area was okay but was underwhelming. The selection of kids books was average.
