Stop Forcing Teaching Maori.nnWhether you want to study engineering, accounting, philosophy, or chemistry, you will be required to complete a mandatory course covering the Treaty of Waitangi and New Zealand history.nnThis will also apply to international students who may only be in New Zealand for the duration of their studies.nnIt means that of the eight courses/papers that a student enrols in for first year, one will have to be the mandatory Māori course. This gives them one less course to choose for themselves.nnI assume that they will still be obliged to pay for the course, despite it being compulsory.
There are massive changes occurring at the University of Auckland library. There's an intense amount of new building for the sciences and engineering but nothing for the arts and humanities.nSome essential queries:nWhy is the Thomas building not being restored?nWhy has there been no new development of the main library in Alfred Street?nWhat plans are in train to replace the Maidment Arts Centre?nWhy has the rating of this University decreased?
A quiet spot for self-study before exams and tests.
It’s a nice building but unfortunately it’s clear it’s not intended for public use, as the “guest” WiFi is for visiting academics only. It’s a shame because Auckland lacks these kind of open, light, and airy workspaces.
A bit older than some other university of Auckland buildings but still pretty good. The lower floors particularly have made an effort to be more modern. Lots of study spaces but closes early compared to Kate Edgar so don't get locked in. Pretty quiet to study in. Wifi can be bad sometimes but other times okay.
