"This relaxed coastal hideaway is a haven for exploring beautiful forest, beach and harbour - or just chilling out. Remote and untouched…. just the way we like it. We are a small, private campground with spacious powered or non-powered sites, and basic cabins available. Onukuhou Stream runs through the campground and the property borders the forest leading to Opoutere beach. We are in an isolated location, so keep this in mind when packing for your holiday!"

Had a lovely time despite terrible weather. The staff are friendly and helpful. Plenty of space for a commercial campsite. Basic but well appointed camp kitchen and bathroom. Looking forward to next year.

My favourite campground! Opoutere beach is beautiful anyway, but this little campground is super special. Clean, friendly, organised - even on a busy weekend. Campsites are way more spacious than anywhere else I've stayed. And just $16 a night! Will definitely be back
We camped two nights at opotuere coastal campground for the first time over Auckland anniversary. Overall we enjoyed our stay only the campground we had was very much dirt with very little grass so this caused a messy entrance into the tent. One other thing we weren't happy with was we had purchased a loaf of bread at the Cafe that was $5 we used four slices from it that morning, we returned home that same day and discovered it was mouldy so we had to bin it, had we made this discovery sooner we would have asked for a refund. The beach is walking distance through a Forrest so we did lots of swimming
Beautifully situated campsite, surrounded by forest, away from the main route. We really enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere here. The sanitary facilities are kept clean and simple. They fit wonderfully into the natural environment. The grass pitches are large enough. A beautiful path leads to a long and hardly visited sandy beach in five minutes. Highly recommended.
old style camp ground. so beautiful and peaceful, enjoyed every moment. surrounded by tall trees, and you can hear the birds and just a short walk to the beach. has basic necessities, we are well set up so didn't bother us. however if you have a teenager, they may not enjoy it as much - minimal phone service and only natures playground.
Fantastic location, basic but clean facilities with everything you need to enjoy your stay. Many different activities options. If you are with elderly or people with difficulties for walking you should consider the upper camp. Nice calm beach that also Carter for surfing. Beautiful estuary good for paddle boarding, swimming, jumping. Walks and bike tracks. We will be back.
Very good place with good beach with good waves and good Xmas.
Off the beaten track location close to the beach and harbour. Facilities are older but well maintained. Showers were hot with great pressure and $1 for 6 minutes. Lovely walk through pine forest to untouched beach. Dotterils and Oyster catchers nesting on the sand spit. Limited basic supplies at the camp store but They do espresso coffees which is a nice touch. Well done Sarah and Jake!
Awesome, camping,fishing,frying freshly caught fish on the beach. Locals were lovely, veiws magnificent... It was an awesome experience. Can't wait to go back
