Great and affordable cabins albeit dated. Beds and pillows are surprisingly comfortable. Close proximity to the beach and dairies etc. Hot showers are $1 but the cold showers are available free. Ample parking. Unfortunate that the private housing area by the camp tends to host parties over the weekend and they can get really loud at night. Might affect sleep. Recommend this place nonetheless. Thank you!
Friendly welcoming owner in person and over the phone. Was given own choice of driving around the park and parked 7 metre van on hard grounded grass powered site. Not many people here so we were distanced from campers and cabins. Birds were really chatty up in the trees and ocean sounds were enjoyable through the night. We parked close to toilet block but walked further toward the office and entrance for showers as the one closer to us mid way was padlocked. Showers operate by a $1 coin. After a long day I enjoyed my long approx. 5mins of hot hard massage shower on my back. There is only a door to the cubicles. No shower curtain to separate the cubicle so make sure you have a plastic bag for your clothes to be in. I wet my pjs hanging up because my shower was high pressure and I wet everything. No shower mat so be can be slippery. As I was leaving the shower block I met a very chatty black cat that let me give him pats. For the the price we paid. I liked this place because it is within walking distance to town and the beach and we weren't surrounded by people. Not a flash area, mostly cosmetic but has all you need and no fuss. Drove out safely even though it rained overnight.
The website does not reflect the reality unfortunately. It is very close to a beautiful beach and handy to the township but it is incredibly run down. A lot of sites lack grass, there are old cigarette butts everywhere. As I sit here writing there is no power to the powered camp site I have paid for. I paid my $1 for a hot shower which never happened.i had to physically hold the button down on the single toaster in the kitchen. It's very disappointing when we have paid over $200 for 3 nights. The rubbish is piling up in the bins, everything is tired. The toilets are gross. We won't be back. They can't even post on their fb page why the power is out.
Warm welcome with clean and tidy facilities showers operate by coin $1 would get you about 5minutes, toliet room air freshener smells great only down side nothing to dry your hand on after you wash them, it is slightly dated camp but the great price refects this, would stay again
The motor camp is well placed and close walking distance to the beach and town. Pricing for 2 nights over BeachHop was rather steep for the value. Amenities were clean and always working. Though sadly showing their age. A frequently used public walkway/beach assess runs down the side of the camp. So if your camp is on that side. There's a very low chance of getting some decent sleep with the constant foot traffic. Also the cerbing along the camp roads is in some places rather high and uneven. Trucks and SUVs will be fine but it you brought a car to the classic car show you will have to watch scraping.
Always a great place to stay , getting a little tried now could do with a revamp, but now sold to a development why waste money a. Real shame ,get there and enjoy while still have it people, slowly running out of Holiday parks.
Wonderful Campground, amenities very clean and well maintained, Office lady a pleasure to deal with, close to main street and beach, highly recommended
For the past few years, myself and my family have been staying here during the holiday period and honestly cant fault it. The kids always have a ball. Which lets face it, every parent needs the peace. The place is always clean and tidy and the hosts are both lovely, amazing people. Hopefully its still there next year, if so count us in. I really dont know what the problem is with some people, its a holiday park/campground not a 5 star motel. Cheers guys and happy new year.
We had a wonderful 2 night stay at the Whangamata Campsite. Very friendly staff. Clean facilities. There are more than ample toilets and showers throughout the campsite. We were very impressed and happy to be there. So so close to the beach. We could hear the waves crashing from our spot, just beautiful. A short walk into town with loads of cafes and shops. We would definitely book again, sometime soon :-
Beautiful place, great facilities keep in mind - 6 min shower/$1. Next to the city center, and next to the beach. You don't need a car at all, everything is very close.
