Amazing exhibitions and always something to see, do and learn. Lots of hands on things and the Kids Space area is great! They also have wonderful events which are very fun and educational for children, as well as adults! The cafe has delicious food although it can get very busy sometimes and you'll have to wait awhile for food and/or a table. The outside areas are being revived and improved constantly and it's a beautiful area for the kids to run around and explore. My favourite exhibition so far was the items from the British museum including pieces of the Lewis Chessmen. The Play School TV Show exhibition was so nostalgic and exciting. And celebrating Australia Day at the museum was fun and my Uncle bought his Suffolk Punch horse, Nash, as part of a horse themed exhibition that was running. The museum members club is reasonably priced and also extremely beneficial with many extras including frequent discounts in the shop and use of the private members lounge. The free tea and coffee and comfortable seats looking over the lake are relaxing. There are toys for children and it's a lovely space to take a break and eat some lunch before continuing your exploring. They also have kids movies showing during the holidays and the gift shop has some gorgeous things to purchase.

We visited the wonderful Seven Sisters audio experience and the Virtual Reality film as well. I hope this display travels around Australia. I would go again. The effort it must have taken to put it all together was so worth it, thanks so much. The museum had some terrific displays, even in the foyer. Just so good. And lunch at the cafe was beautiful. Topped off the visit. I would recommend a visit to this museum to everyone.

What really stands out about the national museum is the knowledge of the staff about any of the historic events. I was amazed how thorough the lady was when I asked about a certain topic. Other than that the museum has no entry fee (which is brilliant) and is full of Aussie culture past and present. I've posted quiet a few pictures that shows each areas of the museum. If you are visiting Canberra than the museum is a must go!

This museum is one of if not the best museum I have ever been too. There is so much history under one roof it is unbelievable. The history goes back to the late 1700s and includes almost everything leading up to modern day. You'll never complete it in one day with everything that they've got going on here. All around it is a great place to visit but I'd plan at least 2 days just to see everything.

We loved our recent visit to the National Museum. We spent a whole day in the Songlines temporary exhibition and were just blown away by what a special and insightful experience it was. A heartfelt thank you to all the Elders, artists and community members who extended such a special invitation to learn more about their wonderful culture in this beautiful country. Thank you to the museum team for hosting and sharing in the creation of the exhibition. We came back the next day to explore the permanent exhibitions, which we also really enjoyed. We loved the virtual reality films too! Delicious lunch. Really friendly and helpful staff. Great experience - will definitely be back one day.
