An amazing place. Things really have changed in the last 20 years since I last visited. It takes numerous visits to truly get the best out of all the exhibits. If you can go with somebody who has knowledge of the history it's even better.

Dawm service was eerie and Beautiful and a wonderful tribute to the Women who have served since the Boer War to present day. And the great sacrifices that Men and women have given to keep us Safe and Free . Including a lot of my relatives. Dawn Service was a "pipe dream" of mine for more years than i can remember. And finely achieved!!

An absolute essential visit for any Australian who would like to gain some appreciation for what our for fathers have sacrificed for us. An extremely emotional visit... many confronting scenes an exhibits. The new section was a must see with the tales of modern warfare displayed on massive movie walls. A visual masterpiece as you become absorbed in the sounds and sights off front line conflict. The historical significance of this place and the fact each and every soldier that has served is immortalized for generations to come.

Detailed accounts of the Australian involvement during the wars. Good informative displays with videos at various points along the exhibit to keep you entertained. A nice aviation section with interaction shows which make use of lights and sounds to add visual effects to the exhibits whilst a display projector has the show played on. Not to be missed if in Canberra!

Visiting the Australian War Memorial is a conflicting experience. The architecture impressive and the layout top class, the content can be disturbing. Having recently toured many similar installations across the UK, the Australian War Memorial really stands on its own for content and intuitive access to exhibitions. Staying for the Last Post at 5PM is a one of a kind experience. Well worth the visit.
