Canberra Museum & Gallery

CMAG is awesome in the way it encourages children to embrace art. Its occasional art classes are worth the $5 attendance fee.

Has a nice collection of Sydney Nolan art, which is better displayed here then at the one at National Gallery. Using the term Museum is overselling it. It has a very small permanent art collection, so how good your experience is will depend on the quality of the visiting exhibition.

Very interesting with some early Canberra information on display. Other than that it is relatively doring as it is more gallery than museum. Entry is free and worth spending some time looking thru it provided you don't get the numerous inconsiderate people who talk very loudly on the phone whislt walk through the displays. Unfortunately it echoes around and becomes even louder. There should be signs posted and staff warnings about not using mobile phones.
