It is a big shopping centre in the city. There are many shops, cafes, and restaurants. The glass dome with the old shot tower inside is nice to see. You can get there by train or tram, but it can be busy. It is a good place to shop, eat, and spend time.
Major shops, eateries in food court and restaurants, all in one place. Most shops open till 6pm. Do check the Lead shot tower/museum which gives a historic preview of the place. Well connected, tram on the outside, and train station at the basement.
Went to the market for a look very interesting morning. Worth a visit if you’re interested in that kind of thing. Got some cheap joggers. Plenty to see and buy. Lots of fresh fruit and veggies at reasonable prices. Area was clean and under cover.
Melbourne in autumn is a great place to explore. Most of the attractions are easy to reach either by foot or local transport, such as trains and trams. A mix of old historical and new towering buildings, multiple parks with autumn colors, cultural exhibitions, and, last but not least, food! Lots of restaurants, cafés, and fast food outlets are located within reach. But be careful, as it can be an expensive vacation, especially concerning food and entertainment.
The Coops Shot Tower was built in 1888 and used to make lead shot small round bullets for firearms by dropping molten lead from the top so it could form perfect spheres as it fell. It’s one of only a few surviving shot towers in Australia.nnWhen the Melbourne Central Shopping Centre was built in the early 1990s, instead of demolishing it, the developers preserved the tower and enclosed it under the large glass cone dome, now one of Melbourne’s most recognisable architectural features.
