- the building design looks like in europen- its clean and most of the things are very expensiven- but its a must place to visit in CBD
Royal Arcade, Melbourne’s oldest surviving arcade, was built in 1869. The elegant mosaic floors, wrought-iron balconies, and glass roof create a striking historic atmosphere amid the modern city. A highlight is Gaunt’s Clock with its figures, Gog and Magog, which mark the hours, a subtle reminder of the arcade’s rich heritage.
A lovely place to visit with a classic, old‑world charm. The historic clock sits right above your head, and it’s worth getting up close to watch it properly.nnWhen the clock reaches the hour, 12, 1, 2, 3 and so on, the little toy figure comes out and starts striking the bell. It’s a simple but charming moment that really adds to the atmosphere.nnA decent spot to stop by, soak in some history, and enjoy the unique character of the arcade.

Love this arcade every time I’ve visited from when was a small child through to an adult and then taking my children there are seeing them stare at Gog and Magog just as I did and still do!
