Went to the Mater twice in 2 days after being to the public hospital the following 2 days prior, in pain with my sciatic nerve. The Mater was absolutely amazing both times. The reception staff and nurses I dealt with her all wonderful, caring and friendly. Dr Danica was super knowledgeable and helpful and got me sorted best she could from the start. She took my follow up calls the next day also. When I went back I had Dr Andrew who was fantastic. Super caring and pushed for me to get the care I needed straight away. He also gave a follow up call after I was home to discuss future plans for my back. Highly recommend.
My mother recently was admitted with a UTI and bad incontinence. The food and doctor were very good, however the level of patient personal care wad very lacking. After waiting until 4pm for a shower after asking many times, I had to shower her and help her dress. The same the next day before being discharged. I couldn't wait to get her out.
I can’t thank the nurses and doctors enough at Mater Private. I arrived in severe pain and distress, after a 7-hour wait at a different hospital for emergency surgery.nnFrom the moment I arrived , I received immediate pain relief and clear information about the next steps and a timeline for the procedure.nnThe overnight stay was very comfortable, and I’m incredibly grateful for the outstanding care and results. Thank you so much.
Very disappointed with my mother in law's recent stay. There were several good nurses incl the nurse manager but trying to get any info was like getting blood out of a stone. No doctor visit for 1 whole week. Missed meds ended up in another fall, discharge chart showed no known allergies but she was admitted with red arm tag listing her allergies. One nurse was too busy planning n hissed n sighed when we needed some info which my 92yr old MIL could not tell us directly. To the few good ones mostly new to the Mater thank you, you were beyond good, but to the others, you need a big shake up. Compared to my husband's numerous recent stays in private hospitals elsewhere, the Mackay Mater was sadly lacking
