This hospital is an accident waiting to happen . I have been to hospitals in 3rd world countries ran better than our own town. My daughter was placed in a bed in the ER with blood all over the plastic mattress, blood all over hand raise and soaked pads on the floor. Keep in mind this was not her blood . I reported it to the nurses saying a child is in a bed with blood all over it I don't want her catching aids or hep c or anything else. The doctor responded that's not how aids is caught . Doctor came and looked and scratched it with his finger nails bo gloves on processed to tell me was a stain and left . I double gloved and cleaned it with disinfectant wipes my self clearly not stained. Absolutely disgusting !!!!nThere was 1 doctor on at night and told ultra sound person probably won't come in as public holiday .nWaiting area UNSAFE beyond words . Junkies in and out pacing around looking for needles , outside waiting walking around streets with no clothes on ,yelling standing in the street . People vomiting inside and outside . Vomit left to step over on entrance to ER no one came to clean it up just ignored . Lady with very sick baby left in waiting area for over 13 hours .nLastly you will be waiting a very long time bring a winter snow jacket , blanket and scarf to stay warm it's like sitting in an igloo in waiting area on extremely bad seats packed in there like sardines all waiting for many many hours .nThis hospital will kill someone or many from poor organization and been understaffed and not right equipment. Building a new hospital isn't going to fix this if same people and same doctors running it . We live here and after 7pm this is only option unless we drive hours to next hospital. Other wise go to private hospital at least seen but will have nice big bill .
One star for this hospital is far too generous. I had what myself and my doctors believe was a mini stroke. I went straight to the ED and waited for four hours. Whilst waiting I experienced vomiting, migraines, nausea and dizziness, after losing feeling in the left side of my body. I was provided with no indication of how and when I would be treated. I left as I was in too much paid to continue waiting. The next day, I visited my GP and was advised to go straight to the ED. I arrived and was told that I wouldn’t wait more than an hour, thanks to my GP’s referral for urgent care. An hour into waiting I asked for an update and was told that a nurse would come out and begin my labs to get the ball rolling. Hour by hour went by, and I was completely left in the dark. No updates at all. I was told I would be “fast tracked” and that the staff were just waiting for a bed to become available. Three groups of patients had been taken through for care whilst I sat there waiting. I was not offered any pain medication and wasn’t told that I could eat. For 11 hours I sat there waiting. 11 HOURS FOR A SUSPECTED STROKE. I was taken in at around 12AM and finally had blood taken and a quick reflex/eye test. I was then moved to another waiting room where I sat again, waiting, until there was a shift changeover, and the new nurse told us we had to leave and go back to the main waiting room - the one we’d just been sitting in for almost 10 hours. BTW - the most uncomfortable chairs I’ve ever sat in. If you’re going to make your patients wait for HALF A DAY, invest in some decent chairs. After returning to the main waiting room I asked for an update, as it was now 1AM - 11 hours since I’d first arrived, and I was told they were waiting for a doctor. A waiting room full of patients waiting for care - most having waited as long as I did - and they had no doctors and no beds available. There was a gentlemen there who had injured his leg, which had then become septic. He waited as long as I did, if not longer. We threw our hands up around 1:30AM and left with nothing more than a blood test. Absolutely disgusting and the most apathetic and unprofessional care I’ve ever received. You should be ashamed of yourselves.
I am so grateful to all trauma ward and surgical ward staff for the exemplary care they gave me following my recent stay at the Bundaberg Base Hospital. The cardiologist trauma doctors and ward doctors ensured I was not discharged until all tests were conducted and completed with follow up recommendations for additional medical treatment from my local gp and hospital cardiologist. I also take this opportunity to thank all other hospital staff who provided excellent service during my 2 day stay.
Absolutely appalling service.nThe wait times are ridiculous.nAs I currently sit here, there are 7 Drs/Nurses standing around behind the glass.nAll whilst there are people waiting to be seen.nSo good to see that our tax is being put to great use.
Went today with Chest Pains, still not seen by anybody after 4 hours, even after me saying pain increased… I asked how much longer and was told no idea… The care factor is zero from this hospital, I seen an older man that finally went in after sitting in a chair for 8hrs… Unacceptable … Do better, you obviously need to get more Drs or Drs that care. No one even came to take Blood pressure, no real Triage … I thought chest pain was taken seriously, and I wasn’t the only one that was made wait with Chest Pain either.
