Disgraceful. Should be shut down. In ER the people have waited so long their original issues have escalated either to an extreme case or into something else. I had a Dr that struggled with the language and failed to go over results. 3 days later reading ER report I saw critical conditions x 2 that weren’t even mentioned. If you’re from a different town here’s how it looks: you’ll be waiting around 10 hours. The waiting room is dirty and overcrowded. The actual skill of doctors is second rate and they’ll miss critical things / discharge you still with original condition - they just need you out as it’s so poorly managed. If you’re from another town it’s better to get the chopper to go to Brisbane or similar. Even if you did drive to Brisbane or chopper - you’d be seen quicker plus you’d get proper doctors and care. It’s a dirty, unwelcoming and quite unqualified hospital. Feels third world. Naturally - there were some friendly faces, yet mostly they were the other patients going through the same living nightmare. Frightening place.
I would like to thank the staff at the Bundaberg Base Hospital for looking after Dad so well. Even though he was ramped for a couple of hours before they could get to him, the staff, doctors and nurses were brilliant. I think people need to understand that this was a country town hospital that is now coping with a huge influx of population and they just cannot cope with it all. If people just take a few moments to calm their breathing and refocus and be kind and thoughtful, they will receive better treatment as the staff are not so stressed. I know it is hard when you are unwell or your family member is but these people really are trying to do the very best for everyone under terrible circumstances.
I would like to thank the nursing staff, domestic staff and doctors for the wonderful care of our Mum who unfortunately passed away today. She had wonderful care and your attitude toward us being there was great too.
I had my elderly mother admitted into hospital i must say most doctors and nurses were great. But while my mum was there in acute ward she was told to pee in her pants as they were to busy to take her to toilet my mum is 99 and now she has scolding from her urine not happy....but most nurses and drs were great..
Terrible experience at Bundaberg Base Hospital emergency. I was admitted in February due to pregnancy issues, kept overnight, and repeatedly asked for a scan that was never done. I was discharged while still in pain and unwell. Soon after, I caught influenza from the hospital and became severely sick. When I returned the next day, I suffered a miscarriage and received almost no care, support, or empathy from the doctors. The lack of attention and compassion during such a traumatic event was unacceptable. This experience has left me deeply disappointed and emotionally scarred.
