The staff are friendly and willing to help , even the emergency staff, we're lost and can't find the room that we're looking for. Nurses and staff are wonderful they're very helpful. The hospital are very clean.
As grey nomads from WA I had the misfortune to have a kidney stone decide to move while staying in Airlie Beach. Ended up at Mackay Base hospital via Proserpine emergency department. Given the high demand Covid had placed on the hospitals I was impressed and pleased with the standard of care I received. All staff were exceptional and I was kept fully informed throughout. I was particularly thankful of the pain management I received as previous experiences had left me quite apprehensive.
Cannot fault the care I received from QAS, Emerg Dept, Short Stay and CCU last week. Specialist Dr Shanti and his team, also nurses in CCU, were so thorough, caring and explained everything to me at all times during my stay. My husband and I are so grateful and impressed with the care and compassion shown to me during my stay. Thank you so much.
My husband had terminal cancer and we received a phone call from his personal doctor telling him to get to the base hospital mackay asap. Oncology was waiting to admit him as soon as he got there. ED was expecting him. We arrived in ED to find rapid civid tests being performed not three metres from the front desk. I, his wife was tod rudely to leave. My husband sat umunst the very sick for 5 hours before leaving with no outcome Disgusted
Poorly mismanaged in the emergency department, hand over of paperwork lost for the member of our family, that requires it for specialist. Doctor from India didn’t seem to care and follow up on anything.
It has been about 10 years since my experience with the hospital and I am still suffering. I had gall bladder surgery at the Mater knowing the reputation of the Base Hospital and believing recovery would be easier. Unfortunately, Within 2 weeks I presented to the base with pain needing morphine. After, presenting 22 times over the next 24 months, 80% of the time needing morphine, lots of xrays, CT and MRI's, the Hospital eventually put me in d ward, without pain medication, saying I was turning up monthly for my morphine high. Before the next round of pain, I took myself to the Greenslopes Gastro Hospital in Brisbane. I was admitted immediately, and had 4 emergency surgeries to remove surgical clips and fix botched surgery not found over the past 2 years. Now for 10 years I have suffered gastro pain similar to IBS. I struggle to eat any type of food. Its amazing that I'm still alive. Doctor at Greenslopes said I would have a pain disorder for life.
Awesome care of my father in emergency dept, and the ward care for a week after. Can't fault the great staff and doctors.
Had to visit Emergency Department last week when my non-verbal disabled brother was taken with an unknown ailment. The junior doctor Hugoattending was very professional and caring. He was very thorough and took great care to always explain what he was doing and treated my brother with the utmost respect. I’ve had many interactions with this hospital over the last decade and have always found the staff and facilities to be of the highest quality. Cannot fault the public system. Cheers to you all.
Following a motor vehicle crash and a 30 day stay firstly in intensive care then the orthopedic ward I can only praise the hospital and staff. Everyone from the doctors, nurses, and even the cleaning staff were friendly and helpful. Even the food was pretty good. A big thumbs up and thank you from me, also the ongoing support from Outpatients has been amazing. Well done!
Excellent. The doctors are excellent. Specifically doctor Maduka Sanjeewa tested me for every possible illness. He is an experienced and excellent doctor. I'm proud to say he treated me. Craig Robinson
