The Secret of Masala

Indian Spices & herbs are one of the most important forms of natural food. Besides their culinary uses, they were also used in Indian indigenous system of medicine as natural healers.
They were used for everything from sex stimulant to antidepressant, antibacterial to pain killing, anti inflammatory to calming, respiratory to amnesia, migraine to rheumatism. That's how they became part of the daily diet and timeless tradition of Indian cooking.
Masala is used in various forms such as fresh, ripe, dried, seeds and powdered. Each Masala adds its own aroma, taste, flavour, colour & pungency to the food. In our Masala we use more than 2 dozen spices & condiments. Our Team is committed to serve you the best of the INDIAN CUISINE.
As you know India is a vast and diversed multicultural country. Indian food menu varies from north to south. Our team has introduced the popular dishes from this diversity. Generally, People have mis-conception about indian food that presuming it is always hot hot. In our Cuisine, we prepare dishes mild - medium or hot to suit your taste buds.

We found this absolutely fantabulous Indian restaurant in Townsville...the most gorgeous setting with the wonderful Chetan looking after us... you must come here when you are in Townsville! The dinner was delicious we ordered 3 meals with a coconut rice and garlic naan bread price was only 70-80 bucks and ordered 3 Heineken beers @9.50 each.  Honestly the loveliest Indian food we've had in a long time...we plan on making this our outing as the setting is magnificent with the wonderful Townsville balmy weather so you can sit outside which is my preferred.  Thankyou again Masala and Chetan for a most remembered evening.  Vegetarian options: I love Indian vegetarian and you can always tell great Indian by the Palak paneer and it was wonderful

The staff were so friendly that I started to enjoy myself before the beautiful food arrived. I had onion bhaji for entree - it was perfect. Then mild butter chicken and coconut rice. I wanted to finish it but I just couldn’t fit it in. I highly recommend

Ordered take away and it was our first time here. The restaurant looked really good, clean and a great ambience. The one at the reception was also great who helped suggest me order. The food looked yummy and we were really excited to taste it but unfortunately there was no salt at all, literally nothing in Mansori kebab and tandoori chicken. I believe and hope its not always the same. Goat curry and Garlic naan were good but we did not enjoy it as the sides were a disappointment. Mint chutney was also a fail. I did not even get a pinch of mint taste. It was only yogurt and sugary with just green color which looked like mint chutney. We would still try ordering food here again to make sure it's not always the same. Wanted to give a 3 star but don't want to be harsh. Cheers

In Townsville for a week on business, had dinner here on my first night,  and went back every night for dinner, the food is fabulous and the staff are friendly and professional, they had vegan opinions and were very accommodating when I requested a few additional ingredients to my meal, I will be back next time I am in Townsville, I highly recommend Masala to anyone, if you live in or near Townsville this place is a must visit once a week five gold stars.

Overall Food was good, service prompt flavour was good too. Restaurant experience by hosts very welcoming. Our only miss however - We did ask for medium heat and our serving was quite mild. Perhaps we could have been clearer that we prefer hotter rather milder. But for that we'd rate 4. 5 stars  Parking: Parking at the rear of the shop

Sensational, I’d walked past this place on my previous trips to Townsville and was glad I finally stopped in. I was quickly attended to and shown a table i my arrival and asked for a recommendation based on some meals I enjoyed on a previous trip to India. I opted for the Kadhai Chicken, med to hot, with some naan bread and it was excellent. The owned checked I was enjoying my meal and I assured him without doubt on my future trips I’d be back. Can’t speak highly enough of the food and my experience.  Parking: I noted the following day there was parking around the back.

Thank you so very much for making our family celebration so special.  We all enjoyed ourselves,  the food was delicious,  the service was fantastic! Fantastic food and service. I asked for a super spicy beef dish, told them not to shy away from the heat and "impress me". They gave me "HEAT LEVEL x 4", which was absolutely perfect. Most restaurants give you spicy food that barely tingles your tongue, but this particular restaurant  was 10/10 spot on.  I also enjoyed the food so much that I kept ordering more, they kept an eye on me incase my drink was gone and they indeed filled everything up without having to get up & ask for more.  Superb experience, spending money at this place is irrelevant because the experience of exquisite food will take you on a journey that is priceless.

This is always our go to restaurant when travelling to, or through Townsville! We are English/ Australian citizens and have lived in Australia 20 years now!
