I had a fantastic experience at Hornsby Hospital despite the unfortunate circumstance of breaking two fingers. The staff were incredibly professional and caring, but I want to give a special shoutout to Lisa Miles at the front desk. She went above and beyond to help arrange my appointment and made the whole process so much smoother. Her kindness and dedication truly made a difference. I’m really grateful to Lisa and the entire team at Hornsby Hospital for their exceptional care!
My first experience at Hornsby hospital was great, the staff was friendly and the doctor was well informed and accomodating. My second experience however was awful. The receptionist was nice but I was then met with dismissal from the triage nurse and a wait time of approximately 8 hours. I was severely dehydrated and in need of urgent care. I was treated so badly that I left and went to a different hospital which they discovered a serious health issue that needed instant treatment and attention. Although the wait time at the other hospital was long I was treated almost immediately with pain relief. Fluids and medication and bloods taken. The doctors or probably nurses at Hornsby were sat at a computer giggling and gossiping whilst they had a waiting room full of people begging for help. I understand that they are severely understaffed however people come to the emergency room for emergencies and a little bit of pain relief and some fluids would go a long way in making the waiting times more bareable.
We had to admit our 90 year old mother following assessment in Emergency as she was experiencing delirium added to dementia. From the time we arrived until the time she was discharged, the care and professionalism of all staff was outstanding. Special thanks to all in Ward 4C.
All the midwives and doctors at Hornsby, were so incredible during my pregnancy and birth/postpartum. I felt supported and safe the whole time. I was truely lucky to have met some of the most amazing midwives and doctors whilst on the birthing/maternity ward and I couldn’t have had a better experience!nMy midwife Kim was an absolute angel! Having her throughout this life changing experience is something I’ll forever be grateful for.nTo all the other midwives, thank you for all you did for us as a new family and making that transition so much easier!
I am writing to formally complain about the inadequate level of care my mother received during her admission at Hornsby Hospital over the past two weeks. She experienced multiple issues, including incorrect diagnoses, medication errors, and dangerous drug interactions, which led to DVT and pulmonary embolism and recently bowel bleeding from incorrect extra doses of heparin because no one cheked her weight after 3 weeks being at the hospital . The most concerning matter was the unavailability of doctors on weekends except for emergencies and the severe shortage of after-hours doctors, leaving nurses hesitant to seek medical updates. Some nurses displayed rude and impatient behavior toward aged care patients, causing delays in essential medications. Additionally, the kitchen service, though satisfactory, failed to align meals with patient treatment plans. This entire experience was distressing and traumatic for my mother and our family. Immediate improvements in staffing, communication, and patient care are urgently needed.
