Gattonside Heritage Accommodation is an 1880’s Victorian mansion located in Battery Point, Hobart. Designed by Henry Hunter, the property is National Trust and Heritage listed and offers luxury accommodation, in peaceful and private surrounds.

Story

Gattonside Heritage Accommodation has a total of eight Heritage Suites including Twin Rooms, Heritage Queen Suites and Superior/Honeymoon Suites. A fully cooked breakfast in the stunning sun filled Gattonside Heritage Accommodation breakfast room is included, along with complimentary port and chocolates served each evening in the guest lounge.

Gattonside Heritage Accommodation is located on the fringe of historic Battery Point. A short, pleasant stroll will bring you to Salamanca Place and the Hobart waterfront. Attractions include catching a boat to Mona, exploring the art galleries and boutique shops set amongst the sandstone warehouses, or enjoy a wonderful selection of Tasmanian food and wine. Continuing along Salamanca Place or Sandy Bay Road through the beautiful St David’s Park you will reach the Hobart central business district.

Lovely property. Very comfy too. Handy to lots of cafes as well as the city. Nice breakfast.

Excellent accomodation. Close to Hobart city and Salamanca Square. Beautiful heritage building, from around 1870. Huge rooms. On site parking. Buffet breakfast every day, included in the price.

Unfortunately this is not what we expected of a B&B with homely touches. It is run on the lines of a hotel but without any staff to greet you during the day.
The rooms are comfortable but very sterile and rather dated. When we arrived at 12pm we knocked but no answer but a security pad near the door which we did not have the code for?
Another couple arrived and let us in, fortunately, as there was not a soul around ! We finally got an email from the owners giving us the code.
There was no choice of breakfast menu, with only toast or cereal if you didn't want what was on offer.
To us it was definitely a misnoma to call it a B&B but more of a hotel with a part time skeleton staff.

Fantastic place to stay, large open rooms, large beds and a great grand lounge to sit and sip some port at the end of the day.

Very communicative and friendly with good service and a great atmosphere. Room 505 looked out onto the front garden but was also overlooking the main road so it was a little noisy in the night. Otherwise it was a great stay.
