Everywhere was packed today so thought I'd take my family to fish inn first time for all of us and was really good, amazing views of the water whilst sitting on the deck eating, I ordered to eggs Benedict's with bacon , kids pancakes , my nan got a massive serving of adult sized pancake , mum had eggs benny with spinach and my sister plain old hash browns and bacon lol, we all had iced chocolates which were so good, my mum mentioned it would be good for a wedding reception , which I'll keep in mind for the near future... Highly recommend also looks like they do lunch and dinner aswell which we must try
Food was pretty good and the view of the water makes it a very pleasant and relaxing experience. Friendly and helpful staff each time I've been. I'll keep coming back for the atmosphere.
What a pleasant surprise for breakfast. Have been here in the past to average service and below average food. However, thought would give it a try for breakfast after seeing a couple of recommendations on Facebook. The menu is about as expected, with the most expensive item around $20. The loaded croissant was nice and a good size stacked with bacon, lacking seasoning and just a little extra flavour, otherwise very satisfying. The breakfast burger was a good size and loaded with bacon as well, personal preference if you like fresh tomato on a breakfast burger, but, spinach should always be wilted, also, the BBQ sauce was a bit heavy on. The staff were friendly and the location is truely second to none.
I have been here twice now. I got to say it was like a completely different restaurant this time round. The first time we ducked in before a flight and even though the kitchen closed in 15 they were really accommodating. The food was quite good and service staff was nice. I had the pasta dish in the photo. A prawn and crab linguine. Only dislike was the fact we paid for a can of Pepsi, watched the bar tender pour it over a glass of ice then put the half filled can back in the fridge. If we paid for a drink we should get it in its entirety. Especially considering it was a can and we then proceeded to buy a second when the small glass was not enough. This time round the experience was not good. Granted there was a singing school's show case on so the place was packed, yet there was still only two chefs and three staff who had to balance taking orders for the restaurant, making drinks, taking orders for take away items, taking food out to people and cleaning tables. Needless to say it was slow and messy. It is an interesting design having an open kitchen where you can watch everything they are doing from behind the counter. I did not like seeing the chefs using their bare hands to prepare food, especially raw meats, using their apron to wipe hands then continuing with other foods. It was not a good look to see the chef using one hand to cook and the other responding to his mobile phone. There just seemed to be no control or management over the chaos of the night. We ordered at 6:15pm and it was 7:30 before we got our food. When it came out we were far from impressed. Each our dishes except one a burger was missing ingredients and was just not good at all. The staff were apologetic but it was another 10 before the missing ingredients came out on a plate. What are we supposed to do with that? I know it was crazy tonight with the showcase but dont you think putting more staff on would have been a good idea or still taking the care to ensure all food comes out correctly and hot. Not really sure. First experience was great. This time round not so much.
Good food and lovely ambience. The Rockpool is a protected pool for swimming both day and night. Beautiful views from the restaurant and most Friday nights there is a live band and dancing. Can highly recommend.
Amazing place to sit and enjoy the food and views. I chose Grilled Mackerel and Sweet Potato Chips ... Presentation was very inviting and the my meal went down tops. The Staff are always eager to please and the atmosphere decor is light and breezy, lots of seating with choice views, wonderful selections on menu, delicious coffee to wash the meal down, also I love that the amenities are within and the Restaurant and they're homely, clean and pleasant to enter. No complaints from Myself or my Friend. Thank you from a satisfied and very happy customer.
Dinner on a Wednesday night. Three guests enjoyed the rump special and each said it was one of the best steaks they’d had. The chef was super conscientious about cooking them perfectly. I really enjoyed the barramundi chips and salad. The view was lovely. All round a really great night.
Don't bother to come here. Fish and chips were ok bit small though, but the burger buns were old and dry, worst burger I ever had and that is including McDonalds! The garden salad had rotten bits all through it, Discusting! They have an amazing location next to the lagoon and the beach at "the strand" and that's it. So they seem to rest on their laurels and don't bother to put decent food on their plates. Aimed for the tourist trade as no local would come back twice. Staff were ok. The one star is for the location!
We went to this place expecting that we would get fine diningwen we saw the 'Rockpool' sign but it's basically a pub bistro. Very nice food but not fine dining; hard chairs, hard surfaces, lovely friendly service, timely delivery of food; would be perfect for a wedding reception or other functions. They have French doors which open out to the Rockpool which would be wonderful on a good night, which I would assume would be a mission just to get IN!! Still a great experience but not what we expected.
After a walk along the Strand I popped into the Fish Inn for a coffee mainly as I know it has outstanding views. I wasn't expecting perfect coffee, service like a caring family business and the upgrades since I was here last quite a while ago. Reading other reviews I see they sometimes get things wrong but I'd like to see them succeed just because they're friendly! Check out the view of the Rockpool, the ocean and Maggie Island. Beautiful :
