Went here for lunch on a weekday and was surprised by the quick and friendly service. Just one girl working the floor and desk but she was very nice and not a bit flustered I would have been!. Ordered the bacon carbonara and chicken and mushroom pizza. Both were fairly plain and not outstanding in any way but that is Italian food for you - not strongly flavoured and few ingredients. Came out fast and made by a proper Italian. Overall OK, extra for great service. Will return.
Omg....yummmm .... I never order lasagna when I eat out as i make it for my family at home in Cairns . Away from home dining for 1 ... great experience and great service.
this is a nice little family restaurant. the food is probably some of the best Italian food in Townsville. I had the lasagne and it was both enormous and delicious! great place to bring the kids and the walls are used as a makeshift graffiti area for people of all ages to leave their messages. good place for lunch and dinner
Disappointing. No music and so also no Ambiente. I ordered spaghetti with meatballs and my wife had penne. Both were unfortunately quite over cooked, although the restaurant wasn't full at all. So there should have been enough time for taking care of the noodles. The cocktails where very small too and were almost entirely filled with ice. Overall, we were quite disappointed. The service was ok, but the food and drinks were not worth the price, since we can do both better at home.
Awesome restaurant, came with a few friends for lunch and while we all ordered separate dishes everyone loved their meal. Danielle the manager is an absolute angel as well and I love the emphasis on Sicilian heritage. Great place.
Well I really liked it. The pork belly was absolutely delicious, though would have been nice had the skin been crispy. Lamb ravioli was excellent and my partner enjoyed her spag bol. Waitress was nice. I'll be back.
Easily the worst 'Italian' food I've ever had the displeasure of eating. It doesn't even deserve the title of Italian...or food for that matter. The pasta was horrible and tasted like it had been frozen for months, it was accompanied by a large pool of oil at the bottom. The cheese and herb bread wasn't much better. It was chewy, stale and garnished with half rotten rocket leaves" Real Italian food is cooked with love, this place cooks in a way that shows they obviously don't care.
For me its all about the experience! Traditional dishes with imported wine, impressive! Entre pork belly, divine. Italian merlot 'Antinori Santa Christina', for the merlot lovers you not miss. Main Lasagna, I am well aware everyones mum has the best Lasagna but seriously speechless. A must dinner experience when in Townsville! Oh and the service playfull and friendly, well done.
Really just called in for coffee and a dessert about an hour before closing. Nice enough place, basically Italian cuisine. Friendly staff on main drag in Flinders Street. Worth a look.
Very popular. Zizzi's has concertina doors, opening the whole front of the restaurant to the alfresco dining area which overlooks the main street. The interior has cream walls and floor tiles, creating a light bright decor, with a few feature walls in deep autumn colours, providing contrast. All the table and chairs are in a rich, natural wood, and some fun, framed photo's of Italy, plus the Italian scooter, add latin charm. The central bar counter is tiled with very unusual stone chipped tiles also in olive-brown tones and the light shades are very large string balls. Obviously very popular with young people, on saturday night it was packed, with a chatty, buzzy vibe. From an excellent Italian themed menu of entree's, breads, salads, pasta & risotto, pizza's, mains and desserts we chose for entree's, Fresh Oysters served with lemon & shallot dressing, and Calamari Fritti - Crisp fried calamari rings with fennel salt, served with rocket salad and lemon with a tartare sauce. The oysters were fresh, succulent and large, with a very complimentary dip. The calamari was crisp, with a very fresh salad, we enjoyed both. For mains we chose a Herb crusted lamb rack with sweet potato stack, roasted tomato, spinach and rosemary jus. A very pleasing combination of flavours The fish of the day was salmon, served with herb mash and artichokes, tomato and parsley salad. These dishes were of a generous size and very satisfying. We finished with two large mouth watering desserts, a Tiramisu with Italian sponge biscotti drenched in expresso, kahlua with vanilla & Marsala infused mascarpone cream, plus Zizzi's traditional Nutella pizza with fresh strawberries, delicious. We also enjoyed a very well made Grinders coffee. The service was very friendly and helpful, attributing to the obvious popularity with the locals.
