I've rented a suv for ten days in Melbourne and returned the car in Brisbane. The car was clean and relatively new. But the communication could be a little bit better. There was nobody who gave me the car. I had to sign in the office before I've ever seen the car, that the car has no damage. So I did this. But when I saw the car, I noticed some little damage on the back side. So I took some pictures and went back to the office. But the employee was not really interested and just said that's okay, it's not necessary to notice that on the handover protocol... But one of the damages was very noticeable, because it was dent with rust close to the rear window and the reason for that is, the car must have had massive damage to the rear and the rear window has been swapped, but the dents have not been repaired. So I took a lot of photos for my safety and also found many broken glass of the window in the trunk. But the handover should really be improved and btw I've never got a document that my car return was okay. But obviously everything was fine, I think that should make europcar just a bit more precise. In summary, I would book a car here again, the car was really good except for this little communication thing.

The good, the vehicle I hired was clean, tidy, and drove very well. I thought the rental fee was good value. The bad, relentless spam from Europcar to my email address, but more importantly a very expensive insurance policy upgrade was presented to me at the last minute while I was hiring the vehicle. When I booked the vehicle initially, I wasn't told that the insurance policy had a $4,000 excess., and that to reduce it to an affordable level would nearly double the hire fee. 
Australian consumer protection organisation "Choice" complained to 
Europcar about this dubious practice, but Europcar continue to do it. Choice suggest a number of ways to arrange car insurance independently of Europcar.

The location on google map is wrong. The office is actually a bit further in Spencer street opposite little Bourke street.
