Young asian female worker asked people to get off computer chairs to let kids play games in the last 20 minutes. One girl who had to move was needing to print and got out of her seat and had to wait for next person to get out to print. behavioural issue of worker needs to be fixed when the library provides such small seating availability. What do you thinks more important studying or 4 year old playing games. avoid this library at all costs.
Just about to walk out the library after failed to find a proper desk to study, one kid is racing on the floor for a distance of at least 30 metres from the kids corner to the front service desk for some thing, the poor staff looks like she is used of it. I would call this place is a free after school kindergarten than library!
Very spacious library with friendly staff. Can get busy in the aftermoons. However, it is easy to find some space to read or study.
Visited Doncaster Library for the first time yesterday around 3:50pm while in the area to study. The library was quite busy, and the only open-looking tables were in an area marked as booked for a makerspace event. Since I wasn’t familiar with the layout, I went to the front desk to politely ask whether those seats could still be used or if there was anywhere else available to sit.nnThe woman staff member working at the front desk at the time, with shoulder-length brown/grey hair, responded in an incredibly patronising and condescending tone. Instead of simply helping or directing me somewhere else, she repeatedly said things along the lines of, “Yeah, so if theres a SIGN there saying the space is marked as booked, then you can’t use it” as if I was stupid for asking a genuine question as a first-time visitor. The issue wasn’t being told no, it was the attitude and complete lack of helpfulness or basic kindness.nnI felt so unwelcome and upset by the interaction that I ended up just leaving, despite originally coming in genuinely wanting to sit down and get some work done.nnI understand customer service workers deal with repetitive or obvious questions all day, and I say that as someone who also works in service, but people asking questions are not doing it with bad intentions, especially when they’re unfamiliar with the space.nnYou never know what someone is going through outside of that interaction, and it really didn’t add kindly onto an already difficult week. No one deserves to be spoken to with disrespect for asking a simple question. Other than that, the library was big and looked nice.
Great quiet environment to do some study. The library has amazing friendly staff. Big thanks to Nathan and the library team who helped me with the printer when it had an internal error and was taking my credit while refusing to print. They ended up solving the problem and forced the printer to print, then refunded me for the extra copies printed. I Would reccomend this library.
