Nice exterior, interior design of the library is peaceful, calm and quiet. Definitely a neighborhood place to visit, ideal to bring your kids there to chill and spend free time.
Always one of my favour local libraries in the region. Spacious and it has good collection of books. It has a secret study area at the upper floor.
Doncaster Library is quite big, but it’s busy most of the time and finding a seat can be difficult. The library tends to be noisy, especially when schools are closed and after school hours. Other levels of the building are reserved for events, and I think part of that space could be better used as reading areas.
The staff at Doncaster library is delightful. They are always very helpful.nnIt would be awesome if the administrators of the place were to create more awareness amongst staff and visitors about library etiquettes. For instance speaking in whispers, not speaking on the phone while inside the reading zones etc. I guess those etiquettes have been lost a bit over the years / generation :nnI understand the goal of the admin is to provide a more open and vibrant place for people with many different needs and preferences. That kind of defeats the purpose of a library in the traditional sense. As most avid readers and scholars would attest, great ideas are formed in a quite contemplative environment.nnI honestly think the administrators should think about using the spaces in and around the library for special requirements. That is, special rooms or spaces especially for people who prefer a place where they can be loud, for that matter there are seating areas outside the library, perhaps simply providing more space and a guideline that discussions should be held outside or at the cafe or in one of the closed rooms upstairs. As of now there is not a single spot in the library which is quiet
