I visited Cyclo Vietnamese Restaurant today, and it exceeded my expectations! The cozy, laid-back vibe makes it easy to settle in and relax. Every dish I tried was packed with vibrant flavors that tasted so fresh and authentic, it felt like a little trip to Vietnam If you’re after a delicious and enjoyable dining experience, Cyclo is definitely worth a visit!
Food was ok. Highlight for me were the Pork Spring Rolls. The Lemongrass Beef Noodle Salad and Beef Pho were good and had their respective flavours.nThe let down were the Rice Paper Rolls. We ordered the Pork, the Duck and the Prawn. Pork was the best but the other two were disappointing as we couldn’t even taste the main ingredient and lacking flavour. Lucky for the Peanut Sauce but even that only had very little Hoi Sin. Overall, I think the Rice Paper Rolls were too packed with noodles giving the perception of value for money but missing pickled carrots, fresh cucumbers and Vietnamese Mint which could’ve improved the rolls. For $5 a pop for one, you would expect just a little more flavour.nThe service without a doubt was great.nThis place is BYO which is a plus.
Venue: street parking. 15 minutes walks from CBD. Street food setting with simple Vietnamese photo wallpaper. Rather packed indoors. More high tables indoors and outdoors. Self-service area at the entrance. --- 6.5/10nService: busy even not in rush hour. Read the menu on the screens. Order and pay at the cashier. Find a spot for dine in. Basic utensils chopsticks & spoons, seasonings, and serveitte are on the table. Get the lemon wedges, chilies, and extra utensils at the self-service area. Food served fast. --- 6.6/10nFood: simple presentation. Good portion. Good prices.n- Banh Mi Crackling Pork, $10.5: already cut onto 2 half. Crispy baguette and pork. Crunchy cucumber. --- 7.5/10n- Combo Beef Pho. $17.5: served with bean sprouts that weren't dripping. Fresh Basil was already added in the bowl. The soup was clear, and the flavor wasn't heavy. Good portions of raw beef, brisket, and beef balls. Black pepper and spring onions on the top. Get the lemon and chili at the self-service area if needed. --- 8/10nNo Tap water. The prices of canned drinks and bottles of water were reasonable.
If you never dine in a real authentic Viet restaurant, one will think it’s tasty. I had been in Vietnam, this is really not Viet food. Lemongrass beef banh mi tastes like Korean bulgogi, combo beef pho taste nothing like pho.
Had the pho combo and it was a tragic experience. Soup tasted awful and didn't taste authentic at all. Tried the lemongrass beef banh mi sandwich as well. The bread was freshly baked, but lemongrass beef tasted like Korean bulgolgi beef. A disappointing experience overall in spite of good service and decent restaurant environment.
