Coming from the Gold Coast for a few days. This restaurant is way beyond my expectations. They have an extensive list of alcohol and Japanese inspired cocktails plus great combination of dishes made from local ingredients. Wonderful atmosphere and decorations, staffs were pretty nice and helpful too. Overall a 9/10 experience. Bookings recommended because it is quite popular.
This very cool bar situated in North Hobart serves up amazing Izakaya fair. The extensive food menu features classic Japanese share dishes along with some Tasmanian twists that are all delicious. The drinks menu is just as extensive, and includes a range of reasonably-priced tastings and some very inventive drinks. All this is topped off by the excellent vibe and atmosphere.
I have visited Bar Wa on my very first night in Hobart. I kid you not, excellent choice I would not regret. Our group made just in time for the oyster happy hour half price, 4-6pm. We were a group of 4 and I think we had plenty of food with the ones we ordered in the photo. The environment is fantastic - nothing like this I've experienced in Canberra before. It is cozy yet not to cozy to make you too comfortable that you're not out for family dinner. It is a cozy dining with a vibe. The drinks menu is quite good they go well with the food. With naturally fresh seafood in Hobart, there was really nothing there to pick a fault. I will definitely visit here again.
Amazing food with unique flavours. Very attentive, friendly, and helpful staff. I was impressed too how all girls were on top of making sure that every dish that came on our table was compliant with my dietary requirements. Love all the work they put to decorate the place, great atmosphere. We came out feeling very content and satisfied. Tip my hat to the chefs
By far the coolest Japanese bar/restaurant I've been to outside of Japan. Amazing Japanese drinks selection, especially whiskey. Food was incredible, authentic Japanese dishes done right. Especially Okonomiyaki. Will come back every single time I'm in Hobart. Super busy and for good reason. Book ahead and don't miss out
Fantastic place with very reasonable prices, especially their half price oyster happy hour 4-6,. They do ramens only I think 12-3. Every dish I had was fantastic, the atmosphere is cool with a younger crowd, fairly loud music but not annoying, excellent service, although can get very busy so may be a little wait between dishes, but staff are good at checking if you want more. Perfect place for a long evening drinking and eating with friends.
Our group booking was perfect! The food was perfect, super tasty, and big portions. We ask the staff for changes to the menu and they didn’t miss any of it. Staff are super friendly and professional. The drink list is large with heaps to pick from. The dining area out was has a great atmosphere.
My family and I visited this place twice during our holiday to Hobart. We loved it because the dishes were fresh, tasty and well presented. Drinks menu had a great variety of Japanese imports. It was also family friendly and had a welcome atmosphere. I liked how the bathrooms had the Japanese toilets and the Japanese language lessons playing- really cool. Staff were excellent and good looking too .
Loved the fact that they are open so late. Had a really clean, appealing and locally infused menu wallaby wings?. Also had a great fusion of delish cocktails with a Japanese twist. Loved that they had authentic Japanese memorabilia etc around the place -they even have Japanese lessons in the bathroom.
What a perfect dining experience. The atmosphere is great and so are the staff. The food is fun, sophisticated and delicious. Couldn't fault anything. This is our best meal in Hobart so far.
