About

Urban Greek Restaurant is a new established restaurant in the heart of Hobart. Provincial Greek style with a modern twist cuisine.

Story

After living for more than 20 years in the idyllic and culture rich island of Crete, we decided to return to Hobart and with us, we bought countless experiences, memories and recipes to share.

Food in Crete (and Greece in general) is a social and sharing experience, where dishes made with love and care, create the centre around which friends and family gather. Everything is made with the finest ingredients, following ancient old family recipes passed on form generation to generation.

And that is the concept of Urban Greek: Traditional, family recipes, using only the best in local and Greek produce, which aim to offer an authentic Cretan dining experience, in a relaxed and comfortable setting.

From our signature char-grilled octopus to our homemade pastries and sweets, the delicacies of Greece are now available in Hobart for everyone to enjoy.

Friendly service with fresh, high quality tasty Greek food made with love and care. I'd say on average it's the best Greek food I've eaten in a decade, with that said I enjoyed the starter's entrees and side dishes more than I did the mains. The only downside which let a few of the dished down a little (still lovely food) is that the Charcoal grill certainly got that charred flavour into the food but it was missing that luscious smoke flavour. All in all a great evening with lovely staff and tasty food. Certainly recommended.

Must Try if in Hobart! So far the best Greek Restaurant we've been to Australia wide! Fantastic service and delicious flavoursome food. Wish we had discovered this place earlier in our journey. We would have happily eaten there every day. Thank you to the staff and well done

This place is amazing a fresh twist on great Greek food. The staff are super friendly and the price is right. Try the cauliflower risotto it will blow your mind! Good coffee too!

This place was by far the best dining experience (food, service, environment, etc.) we had in Hobart by far. Our waitress became a friend, giving us local insider tips and helping to craft the perfect itinerary during our time in Tassie. She went above and beyond. We even gave her a hug after our meal!! Not only did we love our food, but the service and staff were spectacular. A must for anyone traveling to Tassie.

The food. 5 stars. The atomosphere. 5 stars. I walked out (more like rolled out) absolutely stuffed, feeling very content and full. The food itself was absolutely delicious!
