About

Urban Greek Restaurant is a new established restaurant in the heart of Hobart. Provincial Greek style with a modern twist cuisine.

Story

After living for more than 20 years in the idyllic and culture rich island of Crete, we decided to return to Hobart and with us, we bought countless experiences, memories and recipes to share.

Food in Crete (and Greece in general) is a social and sharing experience, where dishes made with love and care, create the centre around which friends and family gather. Everything is made with the finest ingredients, following ancient old family recipes passed on form generation to generation.

And that is the concept of Urban Greek: Traditional, family recipes, using only the best in local and Greek produce, which aim to offer an authentic Cretan dining experience, in a relaxed and comfortable setting.

From our signature char-grilled octopus to our homemade pastries and sweets, the delicacies of Greece are now available in Hobart for everyone to enjoy.

Definitely the best food I had in Hobart!nI've tried the mixed grill platter and it was absolutely delicious and in a pretty good size! I would definitely suggest to try also the calamari gyros that was full of flavour and perfectly cooked.nnThe dips and desserts were also pretty good!nThe staff were friendly and helpful
Splendid food. Loved the ambience. And the most helpful and pleasant staff, especially the manager sorry, I forgot to catch his name but people who have been there would know who I am referring to. Made the experience so wholesome. We ordered the signature banquet and everything was top notch. And it’s halal! Wouldn’t be able to find a fault if I tried. Would love to visit here again and again.
What a place! Amazing food and incredible service. The banquet was wonderful and the staff were so on top of everything! Highly recommend the peach iced tea & the banquets. Thank you again.
We booked in a group of 20 people for a dinner at Urban Greek as part of an event we were running in Hobart. People had flown in from all over Australia. Right from the booking Urban Greek were fabulous. They made everything so easy. On the night the food was beautiful, they had a great system for people to order drinks and the service was exceptional all night long. A fantastic experience and a fantastic restaurant all round.
My absolute favourite place to go for incredible food, outstanding service and awesome atmosphere. My husband and I dine here for every single date night and that’s not about to change anytime soon. The food is so delicious, I’ve loved everything I’ve tried so far, and the cocktails are great.nI can’t wait to go back.
