You people must be absolutely kidding! Have you read the Australian Consumer Law and Fair Trading Act!! I called from Epping at 2:00pm on Saturday afternoon to say I needed timber to be cut to size, that I needed it for shelving in my buffet - 420 x 440 and no more than 20 thick. I clarified that I would be driving for an hour to get there so she had better be accurate. Your sales assistant said "yes, come right in. Do you know what type of timber you want?" To which I replied "I don't care". She said "I asked because we are not allowed to cut pre-fab board". I said I have no problem with that. I arrived at 3:00pm. Guy in timber yard gives me a piece of paper and says to take it inside but ask if they've got anything smaller. Waddle, waddle. Short older dude says "yeah sure, it's just down here". Waddle, waddle. Shows me and says but hey, "we don't cut to size here". What in the actual! I just drove an hour and had expectations. I told him I'd called an hour earlier and he asked me if I spoke to a girl or a boy (seriously, a boy or a girl!!). I said "I talked with a young woman". I said he'd better get her over to me. As she approached, she asked me how I was and I told her I was "pissed" and explained why. I said if they don't cut the small stuff then we can cut up the bigger stuff to size from the yard. I asked her to price the larger board from the yard. I was furious. At the counter, older short dude jumped in. He said "we don't cut to size - won't cut anything bigger than 220". I said one of them "is lying and it's not good enough. There's been a communication failure and it needs to be resolved. What are you going to do given the circumstances". Younger woman was beside herself and exclaimed she was "going to quit." I told her not to. What kind of company are you folks running that a small conflict arising on a misunderstanding makes someone want to walk out on the spot! You'll be lucky if I don't involve WorkSafe! A young man with blonde hair intervened. He told me I should be nicer to the young woman - I responded that he must be joking! I had been misled, my time and fuel wasted and he had the gumption to address me on how to express my dissatisfaction"! Customers come first fools! And then a tall blonde woman approached and said "maybe she could help". After telling me there's a handsaw for tradies in the yard, and me responding that I by-passed trade school, she tried to assign blame to me saying "there has been a miscommunication breakdown and if I had been clear in my initial call ..." at that point I'd had enough. I walked out. Seriously bad experience with seriously inept staff. At no time could I have been any clearer in my communications. What a huge waste of my time and energy. You need to restaff the whole place and you need to look after the young woman whom you failed to train and failed to inform. If any of this is unclear - you can respond with an email address so I can contact you. But if you do, you'd better actually have a valid option available.
