Story

Avoca Beach Picture Theatre began in 1948 in the front gardens of brothers Mervyn and Norman Hunter to raise funds to build the Avoca Beach rock pool.

In Christmas 1951 the building as it currently stands was build & has continued to change and grow over time.

We love to bring quality film to a discerning audience,
and endeavour to bring you the best films available.
We welcome you to come and enjoy our friendly hospitality and take in the classic surroundings of our unique theatre.

An historic little cinema with lots of charm and history.  They serve a good selection of wines and have a great area set up outside to enjoy your drinks and snacks. They schedule 5 or 6 movies at different times each day.  Closed Mondays.  They have an interesting gift shop in the lobby that will entertain you while you wait for your movie.  This is a must see if you are staying in the area.

Wonderful atmosphere. Friendly staff, great selection of movies are shown including international films and live events. They also do fundraiser nights. Has giftware in the foyer that you can browse while you wait to go in and watch a movie. You can takea glass of wine or beer inside (just be careful as wine glasses doesn't sit well in the cup holder). They have different flavour choc tops to choose from plus blankets and cushions are provided to make you feel cozy and at home 😊

Wonderful night with friends to watch The Olive Tree.
Sangria and Tapas in the garden, then brilliant guitar by Damian Wright and Paco Lara.
And the Olive Tree, so subtle and well balanced.
Beautiful night.

Wonderful old theatre showing limited release and geneal release films in a comfortable and relaxing environment. Free parking, yummy snacks, good coffee and wine. Plenty of good seats.

This is a magnificent place to see a live show or movie.would reccomend it highly always love coming here
