Hotel Astor is a home away from home. The hotel's best asset is Tilde, the long term inn keeper. She is a charming, helpful character! She makes everything work and makes people comfortable instantly!

Beautiful people running a lovely, historically-sensitive establishment. Quite quiet and good for a solo traveller who wants to enjoy the benefit of being in the heart of the city and still get a good night's sleep.

This hundred year old family run hotel is the kind of place I like to stay. Tildy, who runs it, is a charming character. The hotel is dated but sparkling clean. Location is in the heart of Hobart. For me, you can't do better than this. .

I had a fantastic stay , the host is very friendly and helpful. The rooms are very clear and tidy. The bed is so so comfy and the room has a lovely warm and cozy atmosphere. I loved my stay and will not hesitate to stay again. Loved loved loved it . Definitely 5 out of 5 . Thank you 👍😀👏👌

The high ratings that we initially found online were totally the opposite to the experience we had upon our arrival at the Astor. We already had a booking for a room and we wanted to make sure the room was as nice as shown in the photos but to our surprise the receptionist lady said that she will cancel our booking if we want to take a look at the room before moving into it. I protested and I said I just want to take a look to see whether it is as nice as photos and she said no this way I have to cancel your booking and then I told her that her behaviour was very improper and threatening and I don't want to continue with the booking anymore. Now my wife and I are at Ibis which I highly recommend. For a bit of extra money you will get a much better service and you'll be in a much better ambience with real breakfast included.
