At first, I was a bit hesitant to book with Alpha since it was my first time renting a van for my family and I wasn’t familiar with the company. But after reading through some reviews, I decided to go ahead and book a van for our group of 7.nnOn the day of pickup, the van was exactly what I expected—clean, in great condition, and with low mileage. The staff member who assisted us was extremely friendly and provided excellent service. I wish I had gotten his name, but I remember him mentioning he was getting married in Samui—congrats to him!nnThe whole process, from pickup to return, was smooth and effortless. On our return day, we were running late for our flight, and although the shuttle driver was just about to take his lunch break, he kindly understood our situation and made sure we got to the airport on time.nnOverall, it was a great rental experience. I highly recommend Alpha Car Hire—they offer great deals and seem to have a solid reputation.nnA small note: one of our friends also booked the same van model but ended up with a Kia Carnival instead. Luckily, they were a group of four women and were okay with it.nnAlso, if you’re in a hurry or face issues with the shuttle service, I’d recommend just calling an Uber—it’s less than a 10-minute drive to the airport and should cost under $20.
The Melbourne team are absolute gems - top notch customer service! From the car detailer who let me in from the cold in the early hours of the morning, to the manager who I collected the car from and the hilarious gentleman I dropped the car off to. You all made the experience so memorable and comfortable after long hours of flights and travel! The car itself was clean and super comfortable to drive, encountered no issues in that regard and also received my deposit back promptly. Was overall a wonderful experience and made my travels so much easier, will book again on my next trip to Melbourne. Thanks team, keep up the amazing work!
Such great customer service by Alpha team. I had been looked after by this kind gentleman named Deepac and had sorted me out with a rental car while I was on a business trip. He had been very helpful from start to end with no issues at all. Will definitely be coming back to alpha on my next trip.nAwesome work !
Pick up and drop off was smooth and transport to and from the airport was good. But customer service for anything in between was super poor. There is an off-site call centre number and its so difficult to speak to anyone where I got the car from. The bloke at Melbourne tried to tell me the insurance was huge and in order to extend the rental, I needed to bring the car back to them for them to view, which was a long drive. If the car was damaged during my rental, does it matter if it happened during the first or second part of my rental period? It's in my possession the whole time! Turns out the guy was lying about the huge insurance he was trying to charge me - he denied there were other options when the website says the more you put down, the smaller the excess in case of damage. Dishonest. The call centre woman told me I was fully covered, which I definitely wasn't! Customer service counts for so much.
Initially went with Alpha due to the strong Google reviews and the booking process was easy and email update leading to the day of the booking were consistent and informative. This is where the compliments end.nnUpon picking up our luggage at Melbourne airport, we were informed to call them for the shuttle bus. I called and waited on hold for 10 minutes before the call just hung up automatically. Tried this again and was hung up at 10 minutes too. Decided to catch an Uber to pick up the car which cost me $13 and upon arriving, there was no one at the front desk and noticed on the wall a piece of paper that stated any abusive behaviour will not be tolerated, which indicated that there must have been a high degree of customer dissatisfaction to put this kind of warning up permanently.nnSomeone eventually came and I informed them that I waited 20 minutes and no one picked up the phone and I had to call an Uber there. There was little empathy and was not offered a refund for the fare. I informed them that I need to go to a funeral straight away and this delay would make me late already at which point he did assist by not charging me a bond and releasing the car relatively quickly which I appreciated. However, I was still late to the funeral! This was absolutely inexcusable.nnThe car was quite dirty outside although inside, it was clean. I had to drive my family around so I was forced to take it to a car cleaning place to vacuum the inside myself as well as give it a high pressured hose down. Quite ridiculous actually.nnI have used East Coast Car Rental on more than 10 occasions and their service and vehicle has always been excellent and decided to try Alpha due to the reviews but will never use them again. I have never had to wait on hold for more than a minute with East Coast and their service and vehicles are always top notch.nnOn top of this, the after hours drop off incurred a $25 fee that is NOT mentioned anywhere on their website. Although this was waived due to the shuttle bus experience, the Uber ride should have been reimbursed.nnI will never use Alpha again.
