All Hallows' School

About

A Catholic school for girls from Years 5 to 12.

Story

All Hallows’ is a Catholic school for girls from Years 5 to 12. Located in inner city Brisbane, All Hallows’ School is a community alive with the charism of Catherine McAuley and the traditions and culture of our 156–year history. Established in 1861, All Hallows’ is grounded in the Catholic traditions and values of the Sisters of Mercy, with Catherine McAuley as their founder. Catherine’s vision lives on today as the first girls’ school in Queensland and the oldest secondary school in the State.

As visionary leaders in education, we journey into the third decade of the 21st Century developing young women who are future-ready. We believe that our girls are best prepared by engaging in a faith-based, broad liberal education that provides challenging options and flexibility. From a multi-skilled and multi-disciplinary base, we foster the growth of highly developed thinking, strong problem-solving skills and the gift of personal reflection, enabling an All Hallows’ girl to become a skilled communicator in a global context. Our House based pastoral care system ensures that every girl is personally known, supported and nurtured and our vibrant parent community provides many opportunities for parental engagement in our community. Students experience and respond to an academically rigorous and intellectually challenging curriculum.

In the spirit of Mercy hospitality, we invite you to learn more about All Hallows’ School through our website, by visiting our School for one of our scheduled tours or by attending our Open Day held in May each year.

Mission

In its spiritual, pastoral and academic life the School seeks to promote personal growth, the development of an informed conscience and commitment to work for social justice in the wider community.

All Hallows is a quality school full of lovely girls who are extremely welcoming for newcomers. I have been in All Hallows since year 5 and I have never had any problem with it at all. We support and accept each other and are encouraged to engage in every opportunity the school has to offer. All Hallows has a vast amount of co-curricular activities and contradictory to previous comments the school definitely offers cultural activities for each girl. Including, 20 + instrumental and vocal ensembles and Theatre sports teams, speech and drama lessons, debating etc. which makes All Hallows a culture centred school.Mercy Action is something that other schools lack. The chance to make a difference in the world and the immense encouragement from faculty. I, honestly am not looking forward to leaving All Hallows as it has opened up a world of opportunities, helped me make a group of friends that will be with me for life and made me overall a better person. Best decision my parents ever made.

I cannot believe some of the comments below. I have no past history with this school but now have two girls there. As for being sporty, neither of my daughters are, and yet, both love the school and have made brilliant friends. As for being too big and the girls are just a number - are you kidding me!! One of my daughters has needed extra care and the school have been overwhelmingly supportive. The girls at this school are strongly encouraged to develop an international sense of community, to develop their independence and strengthen their characters. To, in a sense, reach for the stars. This was the first school in Queensland to prepare a woman for University and they still carry that ethos. Both my girls love coming to this school. They feel a real sense of community and are encouraged to excel in wherever their interest lies. You don’t need to be sporty, and you are not a number. I think those who have found the school to be less than the best, would never be satisfied.
