White Cross - Whangarei

I visited on a moderately busy day. The reception staff were a bit distant, though they handled everything efficiently. The nurse was wonderful, but I suspect the doctor may have misdiagnosed my knee. Despite me explaining that it’s been a persistent issue for over a year, he insisted it should heal within a week or a month. I was prescribed Voltaren for the swelling, but the knee problem remains unresolved. It’s frustrating when doctors don’t listen, assuming they know best.

Reception staff could do with some training in customer service. Quite rude and I heard them arguing aggressively with multiple people while we were in the waiting room. They also charge more if you live “rural”. My sister and I both visited on the weekend, she was charged significantly less because she lives in town we are 10-15min from Whangarei. The nurse and Dr we had were both lovely however.

What happened to customer service or compassion? This is a medical centre and I would expect staff to show care and support to patients. I brought in a lady who fell and broke her arm badly and was in terrible pain. We walked to the reception counter and the lady there, Linda, did not look up or acknowledged us. She was doing stuff on the computer and didn’t raise her gaze for 5min. When she finally look up I told her that the lady with me fell and in a lot of pain. With a blank look Linda asked for name etc this took at least another 7min all the while no communication from Linda with us. Finally she found the name on the system and handed us a form which we promptly filled. Again no care or communication so we sat down to wait. After 5min I approached Linda and said again that the lady with me is in a lot of pain. With a blank gaze and tone Linda said I will triage her. I must say I was appalled with the way we were treated. if you work at reception in any business your job is to give service to your clients. The apathy, the lack of care, the lack of compassion and the poor communication are not what one expects from a medical centre. Perhaps upskilling and training for staff is the answer. Just not good enough.

Awsum customer service. Was seen quickly. Although only one dr on ,team work with Dr and nurses was really good. They are all in sync with each other

Today I took a friend of mine to this place ...he has a serious gout probs ...omg! The reception is exceptionally fantastic going to the extreme with helping my friend out...you made our day!nSorry I didn't get your name... so grateful for all your care and understanding with patients like us who is struggling from payments to seeing a Doc urgently...thank you so much. 5 stars going out to the most outstanding receptionist in the whangarei.
