Fantastic New Year's eve party, first class accommodation, service is unbeatable, food is Michelin class, owner is real Kiwi bloke. Love this place.
Nice food and good service. Fast delivery of the food. Large serves. Family if 4 is only 120 dollars, significantly less than the 190+ we normally are billed in the area. Gets locals
They say they have the best sea food chowder and we had to agree on that one. Decent selection of beer. Could have added some good music to the outside seating area.

Awesome fresh, delicious food - ate out on the terrace overlooking the seafront. Great service given by the staff despite it being hectically busy.
This place is off the hook! Transformation is just epic! Excellent chef for young and old pallets thanks Ben! And the customer service is top notch thanks to Ryes and Dion! I am sure there is more staff worthy! but that is whom I spoke with! The kids can hang whilst you have a drink! What parent can’t ask for more than this! Excellent service and great conversations! Lucy you got this! Great vibe and totally a place to be!! see you again real soon!
This is a favorite of the locals, so you cannot go wrong. There is simple pub food but the drinks are reasonably prices, a wide range of spirits are on offer and the staff are just lovely, specially Lucy. We attended two foot stomping music evenings - Fleetwood Mac and CCR, and they were both special evenings. Strongly recommended for a lovely experience.
Very quiet when I went in, staff didn't seem to fussed I was there too busy with the locals. I think they need more customer training every customer count's won't go for a meal there tonight so have lost my custom. Just put the star rating to 2 sorry but we did go for a meal and what a mistake to make again not busy so after waiting nearly an hour for our dinner I went to find out what had happened staff member had not put the order through the manager gave us drinks to appease us when the order did come the fish was dry and just 2 pieces on chips and 2 of the smallest onions and gerkins. my partner's chicken burger was just as bad so please don't go there. Just overpriced food and bad service didn't seem to care.
July 2020 new ownership - wow its awful now - awful vibe since youre stuck in the sports bar bit and no outside seating. V limited menu. All our fish was off, waitress argued when we pointed this out. Thankfully they eventually refunded the fish but never going back. Just horrible. Used to be so good. [NOTE- -- THIS IS NOT THE DUKE ON THE SEAFRONT ... thats the Duke of Marlborough HOTEL/Bar/ Restaurant and it's great. This is the bar of the same name, totally different management, behind the carpark which is behind the duke hotel across the road]
What a fantastic experience. Thank you to the owners who were lovely and of course the chef, Ben ... who made the perfect steak with mushroom sauce. Will definitely be back!! Thanks again
